Seagems once again stood out in the Great Place to Work™ ranking of Best Companies To Work™ in Rio de Janeiro, according to Great Place to Work Brazil. The organization received additional recognition for its excellent performance in the area of Emotional Health, reinforcing its commitment to the well-being of its employees.

In August 2024, Seagems was once again recognized as an excellent company in the submarine engineering solutions sector. This achievement reaffirms its role as a Brazilian company specialized in submarine engineering solutions that not only leads the market but also cares about the mental health of its team. The highlight in GPTW RJ 2024 is further proof of Seagems’ commitment to promoting a healthy and productive work environment.

Seagems: Awards And Recognitions

In January 2024, Seagems, a Brazilian company specialized in submarine engineering solutions, was celebrated by Great Place to Work (GPTW) Brazil at an event held on Wednesday, July 31. During the event, 80 companies from the state were awarded out of a total of 225 competitors. Seagems stood out by achieving the 13th place among large companies. This recognition marks the sixth consecutive year in which the company has been recognized as an excellent company to work for by GPTW.

In addition, Seagems was recognized as a national highlight in Emotional Health. This Brazilian company specialized in submarine engineering solutions has its organizational culture based on the motto ‘We Take Care of Each Other’, emphasizing the safety and well-being of its employees, promoting healthy and productive interpersonal relationships.

Commitment And Continuous Development

‘Being on the GPTW ranking reaffirms Seagems’ commitment to the safety, well-being, and continuous development of our team. We demonstrate not only excellence in our operational deliveries, with sustainable and innovative practices, but also in caring for each person who is part of our company’, comments Glaucia Maciel, Human Resources Director at Seagems.

The recognition by Great Place to Work not only highlights excellence in dealing with employees but also emphasizes the effectiveness of the wellness policies implemented by Seagems. The low turnover rate this year of only 3.9% reflects the satisfaction of the company’s employees.

Another indicator of success was the invitation that Seagems’ HR team received from Sapura Energy, one of its shareholders, to give a talk on how to be a GPTW at an internal event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this month.

Emotional Health Highlight Seal

Seagems was also once again awarded the Emotional Health Highlight Seal. This honor results from a partnership between Great People Mental Health and Great Place to Work Brazil, aimed at recognizing organizations that provide the best care for people.

Of the 80 companies participating in the state award event, only seven received this distinction. In 2022, the company was already recognized as a highlight in Healthy Management by GPTW, mainly due to the care measures taken for employees during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Currently, all Seagems professionals, as well as their dependents and parents, have the right to remote psychological assistance provided by the company through a dedicated program. For Rubem Falcão, Safety Technician who completed ten years at Seagems in 2024, the most notable points of Seagems are the ease of communication with all levels, from upper management to the operational team on the ships.

Work Environment And Opportunities

Seagems continues to grow rapidly, competing with major global leaders in the submarine construction sector’, he concludes.

Management Improvements And Quality Of Life

Focused on increasing productivity and the quality of life of its employees, Seagems implemented the Adding by Subtracting program last year. The central proposal of this program is to simplify processes through continuous review, exploring advanced technologies, including AI solutions.

With this philosophy, the company aims to optimize workload by identifying and eliminating redundant and non-productive activities, facilitating daily routines (amplifying routines to reduce efforts and increase efficiency) and promoting continuous improvement of internal processes. This approach is stimulated by the E.S.S.A. (Eliminate, Simplify, Standardize, and Automate) methodology.

To further enhance the quality of the working environment, Seagems has recently also implemented the Fiter platform, a SaaS software that measures the ‘Pulse of Happiness’ of employees quarterly through a combination of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and neuroscience concepts.

Personalized Analysis And Accurate Diagnosis

In just 8 clicks, employees have access to a personalized analysis covering job compatibility, institutional pride, professional performance, workplace climate, and cultural fit. This tool provides an accurate diagnosis, enabling continuous improvements in the work environment and the personal journey of hired employees.

Currently, Seagems’ team consists of 1,045 professionals, divided between its vessels and three offices (Rio de Janeiro, Rio das Ostras, and Vienna). In 10 years of operation, the company has made 2,314 promotions and level changes for in-house professionals, who have accumulated over 1,250,000 hours of internal training.

Training And Workplace Safety

Regarding workforce training, 45% of the company’s offshore employees were developed internally to assume their roles. ‘Training qualified personnel is one of Seagems’ main concerns. This explains the company’s low turnover, as almost 50% of employees have over six years of service.

Since 2018, the company has been annually certified as an excellent place to work by GPTW and has consistently ranked among the best companies in the State of Rio de Janeiro. Employee safety is also crucial to our operation. In 10 years, Seagems has a total of 3.19 days without accidents and incidents, meaning that over 91% of our working days are considered perfect days’, says Rogerio Salbego, CEO of Seagems.

Seagems has its own development program under the acronym SEA – Seagems Excellence Academy, with educational material created internally and learning paths planned for hundreds of hours.

Excellence And Diversity Academy

The SEA also features a training center structured in Rio das Ostras, which includes Pipe Launching and ROV Operation simulators, responsible for training over 400 employees in their areas of expertise.

In terms of diversity, 16% of Seagems’ employee base is composed of women, occupying different positions, both offshore and in leadership roles, representing a 9% increase in female presence since the company was founded. This percentage highlights Seagems’ pioneering stance in a traditionally male market, which has been advancing towards greater diversity.
