It is worth noting that in December of last year, the Brazilian Army carried out the operational technical evaluation phase of the Centauro II BRA armored vehicles. At that time, the evaluation firing of the combat vehicle was carried out, which is part of the vehicle’s operational testing phase.
Prior to this, the military underwent technical training and familiarization with the Centauro II at the CIBld facilities in Santa Maria (RS). In total, the schedule lasted 10 weeks.
Strategic Program Armored Forces
The purchase of the Centauro II BR armored vehicles began in 2021. This project is part of the Strategic Program Armored Forces, one of the programs that comprise the Strategic Portfolio, under the responsibility of the Army Project Office (EPEx). The activity at Saicã integrates the completion of the testing and evaluation plan for this vehicle.
It aims to certify the conditions to proceed, starting this year, with the remainder of the purchase from the manufacturer. After the evaluation is completed, the purchase of the vehicles will represent a strategic advancement for Brazil, reinforcing its commitment to modernizing and enhancing the Armed Forces’ efficiency, as well as ensuring that the country remains a relevant player in the international defense scenario.
