Many Apple Users Have Noticed That The iPhone Battery Lasts Less Than Expected. One Of The Possible Culprits May Be Right Under Their Finger: Google Chrome

A recent test revealed a difference in battery consumption between two popular browsers on the iPhone. According to the experiment carried out by journalist Amir M. Bohloodi from the portal Make Use Of, Google Chrome may consume more power than Safari, Apple’s default browser.

To conduct the test, Bohloodi took some technical precautions. He closed all background apps, disabled updates, restarted the phone, and set the screen brightness to maximum. Then, he applied a bookmarklet script that performed automatic scrolling on the screen for one hour.

Safari was tested first. At the end of one hour of scrolling, the battery consumption was 3%. Next, with the same adjustments and conditions, the test was repeated with Chrome. Google’s browser consumed 5% of the battery in the same period.

Consumption Difference Draws Attention

This 2% difference may seem small, but it represents an approximate 60% increase in energy consumption, according to the journalist’s analysis. The data drew attention precisely because it shows that Apple’s browser is more efficient in terms of battery on the iPhone.

Based on the results, Bohloodi recommended that users concerned about energy consumption consider using Safari as their main browser on the iPhone. This choice may help preserve battery charge for a longer time throughout the day.

Tips to Save Battery on The iPhone

In addition to the choice of browser, there are other ways to reduce energy consumption on the device. One useful measure is to access the “Battery” section in the “Settings” of the iPhone. There, the user can identify which apps consume the most energy and decide whether it’s worth continuing to use all of them.

Another important feature is disabling location services in apps that do not require this function constantly. Limiting notification sending and disabling background app refresh also help.

Finally, there is also the “Low Power Mode.” When activated, this mode reduces processes and functionalities on the device, contributing to greater battery conservation.

The recommendation is simple: small adjustments make a difference. And, as the published test shows, even the choice of browser can influence the battery life of the iPhone.
