Experts From Brazil and Belgium Discuss Energy Transition and Sustainable Logistics; Event on 10/16 at CEBRI, Rio de Janeiro.

Professionals from Brazil and Belgium will meet to examine the energy transition and sustainable logistics practices in ports. The event, titled ‘Green Ports – Partnership Opportunities in the Energy Transition‘, will be promoted by the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) in collaboration with the Belgian Consulate in Rio de Janeiro, with support from Prumo Logística Global, on October 16.

The energy transition represents one of the greatest contemporary challenges, especially when considering the need for a transition to a low-carbon economy in response to global demands. Such changes are essential to mitigate climate change and ensure more sustainable practices. During the meeting, innovative strategies and international collaborations that can accelerate these crucial transformations will be addressed.

Debates on Logistics and Energy for the Energy Transition

The meeting will bring together representatives from the logistics and energy sectors in order to discuss advanced practices of environmental management within supply chains. It will be an opportunity to explore avenues for collaboration between Brazil and Belgium in the context of the energy transition. The aim is to strengthen the transition to a low-carbon economy.

As initiatives and challenges are discussed by both countries, the event aims to foster significant strategic partnerships. Such partnerships can be the necessary impetus for the energy transition, as well as minimize the environmental impacts associated with industrial activities. This will contribute to a logistics chain that is not only more efficient but also sustainable. ‘The expectation is that these discussions will serve as a catalyst for concrete advances’, says Rafaela Guedes, senior fellow at CEBRI.

Facing the Challenges of Climate Change

Discussions around climate change have generated a significant increase in concern over the pressure exerted by industrial economic activities. This pressure has been a constant challenge when it comes to effective environmental management. In this context, the transition to a low-carbon economy gains importance.

In response, the concept of Sustainable Supply Chain Management has been developed. This concept seeks to integrate environmentally responsible practices throughout all logistics operations. The aim is to optimize sustainability, significantly reducing negative impacts on natural resources and promoting green logistics.

Green Logistics: Brazil-Belgium Collaboration

The event, scheduled for the 16th, invites experts from Brazil and Belgium to discuss green logistics initiatives implemented in both countries. Representatives from the Port of Açu and the Port of Antwerp will share their best practices, the challenges they faced, and the results generated by these innovative initiatives.

Among the various speakers will be influential figures from companies and organizations from both countries. Names like Caroline Mouchart (Consulate General of Belgium in Rio de Janeiro), Disney Neto (DEME Brasil), Eduardo Kantz (Prumo Logística Global), and Lea Reichert (CEBRI) will participate in the meeting. Additionally, Maartje Driessens (Port of Açu) and Matheus Dolecki (Port of Antwerp-Bruges) will also be present, among other specialists.

Promotion of Bilateral Innovation and Sustainability

This meeting on October 16 is part of the Economic Mission between Belgium and Brazil, which will take place from November 23 to 30, passing through São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The main goal of this mission is to emphasize the two countries as promoters of innovation and sustainability, anchoring these qualities as pillars for an improved and sustainable future.

In a statement from the Belgian Consulate, it was reported that the mission already has more than 400 participants registered. These include representatives from companies, organizations, and educational institutions seeking to contribute to a low-carbon economy and more appropriate environmental management.

Event Details: Promoting the Energy Transition

The event, titled ‘Green Ports – Partnership Opportunities in the Energy Transition’, will take place on October 16, from 11 AM to 1:20 PM. It will be held at CEBRI headquarters, located at Rua Marquês de São Vicente, 336, in Gávea, Rio de Janeiro. This meeting is another step in the ongoing search for solutions that promote the energy transition, reflecting the importance and urgency of this topic in the current landscape, especially in view of a low-carbon economy.
