Fiat’s medium pickup enters a transition phase with a mild hybrid system, a commemorative 50-year series, and a promise of greater energy efficiency, while technical details and tax benefits still depend on official confirmation from the manufacturer.
Fiat is preparing a redesign of the Toro for the 2027 line and, according to a report published by the website Autos Segredos this Monday (30), one of the expected news is a special series in honor of the 50 years of the brand in Brazil, combining exclusive visuals and a mild hybrid 48-volt system.
So far, however, the manufacturer has not officially presented the pickup in this configuration, and what exists on the brand’s website is the 2026 line, still consisting of combustion and diesel versions, including the Volcano Turbo 270 Flex AT6, the base mentioned in the report.
Special series marks a new phase for the Fiat Toro 2027
In this scenario, the future Toro 50 years appears less as an isolated change and more as part of a technical and visual transition of the pickup.

Used automatic cars from Hyundai that are reliable, offer comfort, good performance, and cost between R$ 45,000 and R$ 75,000.

The war in Iran could be the push needed for the electric vehicle market to truly explode because when the price of oil exceeds 100 dollars a barrel, combustion cars become a luxury, and China already dominates 60% of the global electric market.

Fiat is preparing an offensive with a 7-seater SUV larger than the Fastback, debuting in October 2026 with the Smart Car platform, electric versions with up to 400 km of range, turbo hybrid, new pixelated LEDs, and an advanced ADAS package.
The expectation is that the commemorative edition will be based on the Volcano version with a 1.3 turbo flex engine, adopting a mild electrified set to reduce consumption and emissions in urban use, without altering the central role of the combustion engine in traction.
According to the report from Autos Segredos, the 2027 Toro linked to the 50-year celebrations should feature darkened finishes on external parts, such as mirror covers, door handles, and points on the front bumper.

The projections published by the site also indicate darkened wheels, visual applications referring to the celebration on the bodywork, and specific details to differentiate the edition from other versions in the range.
In the cabin, the proposal is to repeat the logic of recent commemorative series from Fiat, with front seats marked by the brand’s anniversary emblem and unique upholstery.
The use of green details has also been pointed out in the report, in a solution that aligns with other special editions already explored by the manufacturer in products sold in the Brazilian market.
This aesthetic change comes at a time when the Toro is approaching a decade since its launch, which took place in 2016.
In March 2025, Auto+ had already reported that the 2027 line would undergo an important visual renewal, with a new lighting signature and an update of the front design, which reinforces the idea that the special series could serve as a showcase for the next phase of the pickup.
Mild hybrid 48V system is a technical highlight
The central point of the future 2027 Toro, however, is under the bodywork.
According to the latest report, the pickup is expected to debut a mild hybrid system of 48 volts associated with the Turbo 270 Flex engine, a set already known from the current range that delivers 176 hp and 27.5 kgfm of torque.

The expected transmission is a six-speed automatic, maintaining the general architecture already used in the flex versions sold today.
In this arrangement, the electric motor would not drive the wheels alone.
Its function would be to assist the thermal set, offering 15.5 hp and 6.6 kgfm, with energy stored in a 0.85 kWh lithium-ion battery.
The reported promise is of efficiency gains in urban use, with up to 7% savings and emissions reductions of up to 8%, although these numbers still depend on official confirmation from Fiat at launch, homologation, or final technical sheet.
There is an important point in this discussion.
In December 2025, Autos Segredos itself had published that the 2027 hybrid Toro with 48 volts could arrive in three versions and mentioned, at that time, an electric motor of 28 hp and a battery of 0.9 kWh.
The divergence between the two reports shows that the specifications still seem to be in the definition or verification phase, which recommends caution in interpreting the most recent numbers until the official presentation of the model.
Standard items follow the base of the Volcano version

As the commemorative series is expected to be based on the Volcano version, the trend is that the equipment package will preserve the base already expected for this configuration and add unique visual elements.
In practice, this means a pickup focused on comfort and connectivity, featuring a digital dashboard, multimedia center, rearview camera, parking sensors, induction charger, keyless entry, dual-zone digital air conditioning, and leather-upholstered seats.
The safety and assistance package should also follow this logic, with stability and traction controls, hill start assist, side and curtain airbags, as well as full LED lighting.
Items such as electronic parking brake, mirrors with tilt-down function, electric adjustments for the driver’s seat, and rain and twilight sensors appear among the equipment attributed to the future special series.
Still, the final list of content will depend on the commercial configuration defined by Fiat closer to the launch.
This applies to both the exclusive finish and the combination of items already offered in the current Volcano with any optional or bundled packages, something common in special series that use an existing version as a starting point.
Possible exemption from IPVA and urban benefits

Another point surrounding the future hybrid Toro is the possible access to circulation and tax incentives.
Autos Segredos stated that the pickup could obtain total or partial exemption from IPVA in five states and also be free from the municipal driving restrictions in São Paulo.
In the case of the São Paulo capital, the city hall maintains exemption rules for hybrid vehicles, but the classification depends on registration and the applicable regulations for the model.
The issue of IPVA varies according to the legislation of each state and has not been officially confirmed by Fiat for the 2027 Toro.
In summary, the 2027 Toro emerges as one of Fiat’s bets to combine product renewal, historical celebration of the brand, and gradual advancement in electrification.
For now, what is concrete is a series of reports about a project not yet revealed by the manufacturer, which places the 50-year series, the efficiency numbers, and the tax benefits in the realm of informed expectation, rather than official confirmation.
