High Consumption And Low Oil Level Are Some Of The Dissatisfactions Related To Toro Pickup Owners, Check It Out!

The Fiat Toro has conquered the Brazilian market and has established itself as a sales leader among pickups. Therefore, with its internal dimensions, the model popularized a new category, where it competes with the Renault Oroch. Measuring 4.94 meters in length, 1.84 meters in width, and 2.99 meters in wheelbase, the Toro offers a cargo bed with a capacity of 937 liters. Additionally, the load capacity varies by version: the flex supports up to 750 kg, while the diesel provides up to 1 ton and can tow up to 400 kg, according to the AutoEsporte website.

The pickup has two engine configurations. The flex versions with front-wheel drive feature the 1.3 T270 turbo engine, which delivers up to 185 hp and 27.5 kgfm of torque. On the other hand, the 4×4 diesel versions have the 2.0 TD350 turbo engine, which generates 170 hp and 35.5 kgfm of torque. Additionally, the nine-speed automatic transmission includes a low gear, although it does not have rear differential locking. Despite the success, the Toro faces recurring criticism regarding fuel and oil consumption, which are common among users.

Complaints About Fuel Consumption

The 1.3 turbo flex engine, which promises savings compared to the old 1.8, has disappointed many owners. For example, Francisco, owner of a 2024 Toro Freedom in Caicó (RN), expressed his dissatisfaction: “I bought the 1.3 turbo engine expecting savings, but it only does 5 km/l with ethanol and 6.5 km/l with gasoline.” Rafael, from Fortaleza (CE), reported a similar problem with his 2023 Toro. In the first 25 thousand km, the model got between 8.5 and 9 km/l. However, after that, it dropped to 6.5 km/l, and the problem persists even after service visits.

Oil Consumption: Another Problem

In addition to fuel consumption, many owners reported excessive oil consumption. For example, an owner from Guarulhos (SP) noted a drop in the oil level after reaching 10 thousand km. Even after bringing the vehicle for service, I received the response that the oil consumption was “normal”. Emerson, from Campo Largo (PR), noticed the same problem with his 2022 Toro. With only 1,800 km, he said: “It consumes 1 liter of oil every 1,000 km, which worries me about internal problems.”

Paulo Vianna, an automotive mechanics expert, explains that the 1.3 turbo engine requires adjustments to support the weight of the Toro pickup. This increases the turbine pressure and, consequently, the oil consumption. “Oil depletion affects lubrication and raises engine temperature, posing a risk of overheating,” warns Vianna. Although the warranty covers the issue, the cost of engine reconditioning can be high.

Stellantis’ Response

Stellantis, responsible for Fiat and Jeep, has not yet specifically commented on the Toro pickup. In response to previous inquiries about the Jeep Renegade, which shares the 1.3 turbo engine, the company stated that “customers who sought assistance were advised and appropriately treated.”

Although the Toro remains a popular choice in Brazil, the complaints have raised a red flag among potential buyers. Therefore, to avoid future problems, it is worth considering the conditions of use and proper maintenance of the vehicle.

Toro 2025 1.3 turbo T270 consume un montón. En ciudad está en 12.5lts cada 100km y en ruta 8.5 cada 100km a unos 110 o 120km/h. Mucho consumo y muy distinto a lo que prometían
