Simulation Reveals How Much It Costs to Finance an Electric BYD in Brazil and Shows How the Amount of the Down Payment Directly Influences the Installments and Final Interest.

The dream of owning an electric car is increasingly present among Brazilians. Because of this, many want to know more details about the financing of a BYD. See all the details of what the installment amounts will be over four years.

The promise of savings on fuel and the sustainable appeal attracts many consumers. However, the financial reality does not always match the desires of many Brazilians.

A recent video from the channel Pipoco Investidor presented a detailed simulation that shows the necessary precautions when considering the financing of a BYD.

The Financing Simulation of a BYD

The simulation revolves around a model from the Chinese automaker, valued at R$ 149,000.00.

For any type of financing, the buyer’s credit score significantly influences interest rates.

Those who have a good history with banks, use credit responsibly, and pay everything on time tend to secure better rates. In contrast, those with a low score, due to not using credit or due to delays, face higher interest rates.

Besides the score, another highlighted point is the down payment amount, as the initial down payment is decisive for the total interest paid to the bank.

A very low down payment can result in a more expensive contract over time. Therefore, it is advisable for consumers to think strategically before closing the deal.

Financing a BYD

With a down payment of R$ 40,000, a term of 48 months, and an interest rate of 1.8% per month, the financing of a BYD results in fixed installments of R$ 3,410.54.

The total amount paid in this case reaches R$ 203,705.63. This means that over the four years of the contract, the consumer would pay R$ 54,705.63 just in interest — approximately 27% of the total amount.

To avoid these interest payments, one alternative is the “stair-step trade-up.” The idea is simple: someone who currently has a car worth R$ 20,000 trades it for one worth R$ 40,000. Then, for one worth R$ 60,000.

Until they achieve, for example, a car worth R$ 80,000 that can be used as a down payment for a more expensive and modern car, like an electric BYD.

This strategy has a clear goal: reduce the financed amount. With a larger down payment, the interest amount significantly decreases.

If the consumer has a car worth R$ 80,000 and uses it as a down payment, the scenario changes considerably. The interest rate drops to 1.3% per month, representing 19% of the total amount in interest at the end of the contract. In this case, the monthly installment drops to R$ 2,188.

The installment amount should be compatible with the person’s budget. If the installment is affordable and the car is a long-term personal goal, it is worth continuing with the decision.

However, if the financing will compromise a large portion of the income, it is better to postpone the plan or seek alternatives.

Evaluating the Real Conditions of the Financing of a BYD Can Prevent Regrets

In Brazil, it is rarely possible to escape entirely from interest and taxes. What can be done is to try to minimize the impacts, either with a good down payment or by choosing the financial institution that offers better conditions.

In addition to the installments, the consumer needs to consider the additional costs involved in purchasing a car.

Insurance, IPVA, maintenance, and potential repairs cannot be ignored, especially in models with advanced technology like electric vehicles.

Those looking to pay less interest should do calculations, simulate different scenarios, and analyze the real impact of the transaction.

A larger down payment can make all the difference in the total cost. With a down payment of R$ 70,000 on the financing of a BYD, for example, the installment would drop to R$ 2,431, and the total interest would fall to 21%, well below the previous scenario.

In the end, each person has a different reality. What may seem unreasonable to one can be a good deal for another.

The most important thing is to plan, know the numbers, and make a conscious decision, without being influenced by external comments.

With planning and information, even the financing of a BYD can become a safe choice.

It is important to highlight that the values presented throughout the article are part of a simulation based on a hypothetical scenario. The actual financing conditions, such as interest rates, installment amounts, and credit approval, vary according to each consumer’s profile and the policies of financial institutions. To obtain precise and personalized results, it is ideal to consult directly with banks, financial institutions, or authorized dealerships.

Vehicle Financing Reaches Best Mark in Over 10 Years in Brazil

Vehicle financing set a record in 2024, achieving the best result in the last thirteen years. According to data released by B3, more than 7.2 million units were sold with credit in the country. This represents a growth of 20.4% compared to the previous year, with 1.22 million more vehicles financed.

The total includes light cars, heavy vehicles, and motorcycles. Just in December, 614,000 vehicles were financed, the highest volume for the month since 2014. For the year as a whole, light cars and commercial vehicles experienced a 19% increase. Heavy vehicles grew by 13.8%, and motorcycles recorded the largest increase, with a rise of 25%.

Experts attribute the result to the recovery of the automotive retail sector, stability in delinquency rates, and the expansion of credit offerings in the market. With this performance, 2024 becomes the best year for vehicle financing since 2011, when 7.7 million units were registered as financed.
