Overview of Programs and Areas of Training
The three programs have complementary focuses and cover key themes in collective health, the interface between environment and health, and data-driven surveillance.
Public Health: 41 Slots and Two Integrated Areas
The Master’s in Public Health has the largest number of opportunities, with 41 slots.
The training is organized into two areas: Interdisciplinarity in Collective Health and Policies, Planning, Management, and Care in Health.
In these areas, the course addresses issues such as violence and health, gender relations and inequalities, human rights, organization of systems and care networks, as well as care practices and evaluation of public policies.
The pedagogical proposal prioritizes the connection between theory and real-world problems in the SUS.
Public Health and Environment: 15 Slots and Focus on Exposures
With 15 slots, the Master’s in Public Health and Environment prepares professionals to analyze the impacts of environmental exposures on human health.
The program is structured into three research lines: Environmental Epidemiology, Environmental Management and Sanitation, and Environmental Toxicology.
The training emphasizes methods for identifying risks, assessing exposure scenarios, and proposing evidence-based interventions.
Epidemiology in Public Health: 29 Slots and One Concentration Area
The third announcement, for the Master’s in Epidemiology in Public Health, offers 29 slots.
The concentration area is unique and covers Epidemiology in Public Health.
The goal is to train professionals for research, teaching, and technical activities in surveillance, data analysis, and evaluation of interventions.
The course emphasizes study design, applied statistical analysis, and critical interpretation of evidence to guide decisions in collective health.
Selection Stages: What Happens in Each Phase
The selection consists of four stages.
The first is the English Exam, which is eliminatory, with the possibility of waiver upon presentation of accepted proficiency certificates by the program.
The assessment aims to verify comprehension of academic texts and instrumental use of the language for scientific reading.
Next, the Specific Knowledge Exam takes place, which is discursive in nature and based on the indicated bibliography.
Performance in this stage measures the candidate’s familiarity with concepts, theoretical currents, and practical applications in the areas of public health, environment, and epidemiology, according to the selected program.
The Documentary Analysis considers the Lattes curriculum and the pre-research project.
Academic and professional trajectory, the maturity of the proposed problem, methodological adequacy, and adherence to the program’s research lines are observed.
Finally, the online defense allows the committee to learn about the candidate’s proposal, discuss the feasibility of the study, and assess academic and communication skills.
Open Competition and Affirmative Actions
The slots will be distributed between open competition and affirmative actions, in accordance with Fiocruz’s inclusion policy.
The announcement provides the specific criteria, the supporting documentation, and the method of competition.
How to Apply for the Selection Process
Applications must be submitted exclusively through the Fiocruz Access Portal, by September 15, 2025, at 4 PM.
Submission of the electronic form and supporting documentation is mandatory, and only candidates who complete all stages will have their applications confirmed.
Given the growing demands in collective health, environment, and epidemiological surveillance, how do you intend to align your research project with the current challenges of SUS?
