TAG's CEO, Gustavo Labanca, talks about the company's projections and investments, with the approval of the new gas law

ATG – Transportadora Associada de Gás SA operates in the natural gas transport segment through gas pipelines. The company already has the most extensive network of transport pipelines in the country, with around 4.500 kilometers, responsible for almost 50% of the total natural gas transport network in the country, which is why it does not want to stop here and intends to make an investment of 1 billion by 2025.

The investment will focus on modernization, asset security and business sustainability. With the approval of the “New Gas Law”, the company will play an important and fundamental role in the distribution of gas throughout Brazil.

Gustavo Labanca, answered some questions, check it out!

How did you and TAG face the challenges of 2020, with the pandemic strongly influencing the Brazilian economy?

“TAG's main objective since the beginning of the pandemic has been to preserve the health and safety of its employees and suppliers, adopting preventive and protective measures, such as the adoption of telework to carry out activities, and guarantee the continuity of its business, in view of that gas is an essential input for Brazilian society. The pandemic did not have significant impacts on the company's economic and financial performance, since the business model of the gas transportation sector includes high capital investments and long-term contracts, which ensures greater predictability in billing and cash flow stable. However, a crisis of global proportions always raises concerns and generates effects for companies.

In the context of the pandemic, we also joined efforts with our partners in donating food baskets, masks and hygiene and cleaning products to families in communities in situations of social and nutritional vulnerability in the states of Amazônia and Espírito Santo. In addition, TAG donated more than BRL 1 million to Fiocruz for the implementation of a Support Unit for Molecular Diagnosis of Covid-19 of the institution, in Bahia.”

Prospects for the company and for you in 2021?

“We believe that 2021 should be a year of economic recovery for the country and, for this reason, the company has been investing in its assets and in the technical improvement of its workforce, in order to maintain its operational excellence and prepare the company for the growth opportunities that are emerging with the opening of the gas market in the country. TAG has an ambitious investment plan for the next five years, in excess of BRL 1 billion, focused on the modernization, integrity and safety of its assets, ensuring the sustainability of the business and its long-term expansion.”

What recommendations and suggestions would you make to the government in this new year that is about to start?

“Our premise is not to comment on political issues. We understand that the country has experienced recent advances, such as the approval of the Social Security Reform, the new legal framework for sanitation and the New Gas Law in the Chamber of Deputies, now in the Senate. Brazil demands legal certainty, respect for contracts and a solid regulatory framework, with independent agencies so that private investors are interested in making the large investments in infrastructure that the country so badly needs.”
