Reason Why Models Are Among the Most Targeted
The survey indicates that the predominant position of Volkswagen in the ranking of the most stolen vehicles is due to a basic reason: the strength of the brand, which today is a reference when it comes to powerful engines and a wide variety of models in circulation.
“This large number of units creates a parallel market for replacement parts. But of course: the best-selling cars are among the most stolen and robbed,” says the survey. In this sense, the leadership position of the Volkswagen Gol is due to the fact that the model is one of the most popular in the national market.
This ends up making life easier for criminals, who often steal vehicles to sell items and parts from these cars. Since the Gol is popular, there is a significant ease in commercialization. Other models on the list, such as the Chevrolet Onix, stand out for their resale ease, and utility vehicles are targeted for their durability and higher value.
Still according to the study, models like the Fiat Strada are of interest to criminals because of their transport capacity. Today, these vehicles are frequently used for transporting stolen goods and merchandise, such as agricultural products. On the other hand, the Toyota Hilux is considered a “magnet” for thieves because it is a large and expensive truck.
