New Document Will Be Issued by MEC, Will Be Valid Throughout Brazil, Will Guarantee Discounts on Cultural Events, Accommodation, and Will Come with a Credit Card with No Annual Fee
According to Agência Brasil, the Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, announced last Monday (1st) that the National Teacher’s Card in Brazil (CNDB) will start being issued in October, a month in which the Teacher’s Day is celebrated. The measure results from the urgent approval by the Chamber of Deputies of the Bill 41/2025, which authorizes the creation of the official identification document for teachers in public and private networks throughout the national territory.
Benefits Expected with the New Card
According to the Ministry of Education, the National Teacher’s Card will ensure discounts on cultural activities such as movies, theater, and shows. In addition, each teacher will have access to a credit card linked to Caixa Econômica Federal or Banco do Brasil, with no annual fee, expanding financial and consumption benefits for the category.
According to the minister, the card will also provide a specific advantage in the tourism sector. Through a partnership established between MEC and the Brazilian Association of Hotel Industry (ABIH Nacional), professionals will have 15% discount on hotel daily rates throughout the country.

Presidential Sanction and Beginning of Issuance
The bill has already been approved by Congress and is awaiting presidential sanction, expected on October 15. On the same date, according to Santana, a symbolic delivery of the first cards will take place during the celebrations of Teacher’s Day. “We will announce several other advantages in October, along with the sanction of the law and the delivery of the cards,” the minister said in a video published on social media.
This information was disclosed by Agência Brasil, which highlighted Santana’s remarks about recognizing the teaching profession as fundamental to the formation of all other careers.
Registration and Requirements for Issuance
The document will be issued exclusively by MEC and will require registration on the More Teachers for Brazil Program website. Interested individuals must use the Gov.br account, logging in with CPF and password. Registration also requires indicating the type of teaching link, as well as the municipality and state in which the teacher works.
The system will cross-reference the information provided with official federal government databases, such as the Federal Revenue and School Census records. The issuance of the card will depend on the verification and availability of this information.
Responsibility of States and Municipalities
According to the approved text, states, municipalities, and the Federal District will have to regularly send the data needed to keep the professionals’ information base updated. This procedure aims to ensure that the benefits of the National Teacher’s Card are exclusively restricted to those who perform teaching functions in the country.
The CNDB is part of the More Teachers for Brazil Program, launched by MEC to enhance the appreciation of teaching and encourage teaching in basic education.
Do you believe that the National Teacher’s Card, with discounts and benefits, really represents an appreciation of the category or should it include other more structural measures?
