The license granted by the government of Rio de Janeiro states that the operation of the plant will be based on the desalination of sea water, in order to reduce the environmental impact. GNA is also authorized to double the installed capacity of the thermoelectric park in the future.
UTE GNA I will be composed of 3 gas turbines and 1 steam turbine that, together, will be responsible for generating 1,3 GW in combined cycle, which contributes to the increase of efficiency in energy generation.
The energy generated by UTE GNA I will be connected to the SIN – National Interconnected System – through a 345 kV Transmission Line of approximately 52 km in length, at the Campos dos Goytacazes substation.
