The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS) announces the opening and new offering of places in free courses for those who wish to start studying in the second semester of 2024. The technical and higher education courses will be available at the campuses Alvorada, Bento Gonçalves, Canoas, Porto Alegre, Restinga (Porto Alegre), Rio Grande, Vacaria, and Viamão.

The places are for 35 technical and higher education courses, all free and in-person. IFRS has not yet released information about the Student Selection Process for 2024/02, and this information is expected to be published in the coming days on the IFRS websites and social media.

Main Dates to Enroll in IFRS Free Courses
The technical and higher education courses at the Federal Institute are free; however, a fee is charged to participate in the selection. Candidates who need it may request free enrollment (waiver of the fee) from April 8 to April 15, 2024.
There will be universal access enrollment, so anyone can enroll and compete for free courses, and by quotas (reserved spots) for those who studied in public schools; people with disabilities, blacks, browns, and indigenous individuals, and quilombolas, and for those with family income equal to or less than 1 minimum wage per capita. It is worth mentioning that the technical and undergraduate courses at IFRS are in-person.
The publication of the document with information on how to request free enrollment will be released on April 8, and submissions can be made from April 8 to April 15. The detailed announcement regarding the selection of students will be published on April 17. The enrollment period for the selection will take place from April 17 to April 30.
