O Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS) announces the opening and new offer of places in free courses for those who wish to start studying in the second half of 2024. Technical and higher education courses will be available on the campuses Alvorada, Bento Gonçalves, Canoas, Porto Alegre, Restinga (Porto Alegre) , Rio Grande, Vacaria and Viamão.

As vacancies are for 35 technical and higher undergraduate courses, all free and in person. The IFRS has not yet released information about the Selection Process for students 2024/02 and it is expected to be released in the coming days on the IFRS websites and Social Networks.

Key dates to sign up for free IFRS courses
Technical and higher education courses at the Federal Institute are free, however a fee is charged to participate in the selection process. Candidates who need it may request free registration (fee exemption) from April 8 to 15, 2024.
There will be registrations for universal access, this way, anyone can sign up and compete for free courses, and for quotas (reserving places) for those who studied in public schools; people with disabilities, black, brown and indigenous people and quilombolas and for those who have a family income equal to or less than 1 minimum wage per capita. It is worth mentioning that IFRS technical and undergraduate courses are face-to-face.
The publication of the document with information on how to request free registration will be published on April 8th and submissions can be made from April 8th to 15th. The publication of the detailed notice on the selection of students will take place on April 17th. The registration period for the selection will take place from April 17th to 30th.
