In 2022, the Brazilian Road Implement Industry Ended by Consolidating an Important Recovery. The Confirmation Came Through the Official Numbers from the National Association of Road Implement Manufacturers (ANFIR).

According to the research, around 154,744 road implements were delivered throughout Brazil from January to December of the previous year, representing only a 4.87% decline compared to the total for 2021, when around 162,674 units were in commercial circulation.

“For the second consecutive year, the sector positioned itself at a business level above 150 thousand units, which consolidates the activity,” says José Carlos Spricigo, the president of ANFIR. “The difference of less than 5% from one year to the next is too small to be considered a decline. In 2022, there were factors that reflected in these results and will reflect in 2023,” he adds.

Among the factors highlighted by the entity at the beginning of the commercialization of semitrailers with the 4th axle, one configuration gained the preference of transporters in Brazil over other road trains. “Thus, the lower number of products sold did not necessarily mean a decline in business,” explains the president of ANFIR.

In 2022, there was also a reflection on the business from Fenatran. About 50 companies in the implement production sector present at the event made deals totaling around R$ 3.5 billion, which will be completed in the coming months of this year, according to ANFIR. “The deliveries from sales at Fenatran start at the fair and continue into the following year. This positively alters the performance results,” says Spricigo.

Last year, around 71,601 bodies on chassis were sold, reflecting a decrease of 1.01% compared to the total from 2021, when more than 72,335 units were sold, considering each segment separately.

The trailer and semitrailer segment ended 2022 with a total of around 83,143 units sold, experiencing a decline of 7.97% compared to the same period in 2021.
