Increasing The Bet On Sustainability, Copart Installs Three Solar Parks To Power Its Operations In The State Of São Paulo.

At the heart of the green revolution in the corporate world, Copart, a leading company in vehicle auctioning, has just inaugurated three solar energy generation parks. These new green assets, located in Embu das Artes, Itaquaquecetuba, and Pirapora do Bom Jesus, will be fundamental to powering the company’s operations in the southeastern region of Brazil.

Photovoltaic Capacity And Ecological Impact

The trio of solar installations has the capacity to produce around 680 kWh daily, potentially generating up to 250,000 kWh of clean energy annually. This investment in solar power promises to offset the equivalent of 244 tons of carbon emissions per year, as well as save 96 tons of coal and protect more than 13,000 trees from being cut down.

“The investments we make in infrastructure go far beyond the cutting-edge technology we use daily in our operations,” notes Adiel Avelar, president of Copart Brazil. “Our sustainability efforts also go beyond this first project in the Southeastern Region. We plan to install more solar parks in the yards of the Central-West, Northeast, and South Regions, aiming to support our operation, which is already carbon positive,” adds Avelar.

Global Investments In Renewable Energy

Paulo Marson, Operations Manager at Copart, emphasizes that the company already boasts the status of having a positive carbon footprint. “Our operation is already sustainable, considering the nature of our business and the encouragement of the circular economy,” he stresses. “Copart promotes the reuse, circulation, and recycling of millions of cars worldwide and is committed to reducing the carbon footprint resulting from its operational processes.”

The step that Copart Brazil takes towards the generation and supply of solar energy mirrors the company’s global positioning. Copart’s facilities in Germany and Spain, for example, are already 100% powered by solar panels.

In the last year, Copart invested over 20 million dollars in eight solar energy projects aimed at providing clean energy for operations in the United States. In total, the solar projects in U.S. yards have the capacity to produce over 65 million kWh of electricity in 2023, reducing CO2e emissions by approximately 28 million tons of carbon.
