ES Is Becoming One of the Largest Holders of Renewable Sources, with Several Investments in Offshore and Onshore Wind Power Plants, Solar Energy, and Biogas. The Ventures Not Only Generate Sustainability but Also Create Jobs and Income for the Community
Currently, Brazil is facing one of the worst water crises in history, with reservoirs operating at their limit. Risks of blackouts are becoming increasingly likely, although measures are being taken by the government. Therefore, it is of utmost importance and necessity to have new investments in other energy sources. In ES, investments encompass offshore and onshore wind energy, solar energy, and biogas. The plants not only produce energy but also generate new jobs for the state.

Two highly anticipated investments are in offshore wind energy, produced in deep waters. The two plants are in the licensing phase with the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) and are expected to be built in the coming years. One of the plants is by Equinor, a Norwegian oil company, and the capacity of the offshore wind energy project will be 2 gigawatts, potentially creating numerous jobs.
According to Cícero Grams, Executive Manager of Business at the Federation of Industries of ES and Coordinator of the Capixaba Forum for Oil, Gas, and Energy, the company seeks diversification in its matrix with offshore and onshore wind energy, solar energy, among others. The installation will include two significant wind farms, one in ES and another in RJ.

With Great Generation Potential, ES Is the Stage for New Investments in the Solar Energy Scene
ES emerges with the potential to generate various types of energy, according to experts in the field. In addition to the announced investments, others may arise, especially concerning solar energy.
According to Mayara Lamberti Zanotti, Technical Advisor for Energy at Sectides, ES has sufficient radiation for solar energy generation. Large companies are seeking the state due to its fiscal incentive program, good location, and also its region within Sudene. Furthermore, the state’s ports are ready to receive imports.
Thermal Power Plants Will Also Receive Investments in ES
In addition to solar energy, another sector that may receive investments soon is biogas. According to Mayara, the state already has plants of this type, and others are being explored.
Cícero Grams states that ES has significant potential in natural gas use. Although it is not a clean energy source, it serves as a transition energy for low carbon. Projects for thermal power plants are also under development. This includes the expansion of two plants and the construction of a thermal power plant in Linhares.
In total, these ventures will create 295 jobs and sum R$ 548 million in investments by next year. According to Mayara, the state will thus see a decrease in the use of hydropower plants and a reduction in pollutant gases.
