Apple Confirms September 2025 Event To Reveal The iPhone 17 Air, Ultra-Thin Model Replacing The Plus Version, Along With New Apple Watch, AirPods, Operating Systems And Design Updates For Pro iPhones.

Apple announced that it will hold its annual September event on September 9, 2025, at 10 a.m. (California time), at the Apple Park campus in Cupertino.

The main attraction will be the iPhone 17 Air, the thinnest smartphone ever launched by the company, measuring just 5.5 mm thick.

The model will replace the “Plus” version and will feature a 6.6-inch display, A19 processor, proprietary modem named C1, and a single rear camera.

In addition to the new addition, Apple will also unveil the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max. For the first time, the entire line will receive displays featuring ProMotion technology.

The Pro models will come with the A19 Pro chip and significant aesthetic changes, including a more durable aluminum body and a horizontal camera module, replacing the square arrangement used until now.

iPhone 17 Air Bets On Ultra-Thin Design

The highlight of the iPhone 17 Air is its extremely compact form, weighing only 146 grams.

Apple opted for a 7000 series aluminum structure, lighter and more durable, reviving the minimalist design strategy that has marked products like the MacBook Air and iPad Air.

The company intends to resume the tradition of creating devices known for portability and simplicity.

According to analysts, the bet on the Air model is an attempt to differentiate Apple at a time when competitors like Samsung and Google are focusing on foldable phones and artificial intelligence features.

The focus of the Californian brand is to enhance the user experience and aesthetic appeal.

New Apple Watch, AirPods, and Systems

The September event will not be limited to smartphones. Apple is expected to refresh its line of smartwatches for the first time in three years. The Apple Watch Series 11, Watch Ultra 3, and Watch SE3 are expected.

The company will also likely launch the AirPods Pro 3, a new version of the HomePod mini, and an updated model of the Apple TV 4K.

Another anticipated announcement is the release dates for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe, the operating systems that will accompany the new generation of devices.

The Challenge For Apple In Reinventing The iPhone

Apple faces pressure in the technology market.

Investors fear the company’s delay in adopting advanced artificial intelligence features in its products, as well as the impacts of trade tariffs imposed by the U.S. government on the supply chain.

According to Bloomberg, the company’s strategy is to gradually renew the iPhone, balancing innovation and stability.

The iPhone 17 line represents a first step in this transition, but more profound structural changes are expected to occur only starting in 2026.

First Information About The Foldable iPhone

Sources from Bloomberg indicate that Apple is preparing to launch its first foldable iPhone by the end of 2026.

Unlike other times when the company was a pioneer, such as with the iPod, iPhone, and iPad, this time it will enter a market already established by competitors, especially Samsung, which launched its first foldable in 2019.

The model in development is expected to adopt a “book” format, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold line, with OLED screens supplied by Samsung Display.

Apple is working to reduce the crease mark and develop a new hinge mechanism.

The device is expected to run iOS 27, adapted to the foldable format, and hit the market at a price of at least US$ 2,000, positioning itself as a premium product.

The company aims to cater to consumers seeking a foldable with iOS, especially in China, where local brands such as Huawei, Honor, and Xiaomi have already popularized the format.

iPhone 20 Should Mark The 20th Anniversary Of The Model

The year 2027 will mark two decades since the launch of the first iPhone in 2007.

According to Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, Apple is expected to take advantage of the date to launch a commemorative model: the iPhone 20.

Possible innovations include a curved design, with a body almost entirely made of glass and a display without visible cutouts, thanks to a front camera embedded beneath the display.

This change could represent an important aesthetic milestone, standing out against the competition.

With the new iPhone 17 Air and future plans for foldables and anniversary models, Apple is trying to show that it still seeks to set trends in mobile design and technology.

But the big question is: will the strategy of betting on lightness and then on differentiated formats be enough to keep the iPhone as a reference in an increasingly competitive market?
