With Delivery Scheduled for 2026, Line 6-Orange Has Already Excavated 14 Km of Tunnels and Will Integrate with Four Other Lines of the Public Transportation System in São Paulo.

The Line 6-Orange of the SP Metro is progressing rapidly in 2025. The megaproject for urban mobility, which connects Brasilândia in the North Zone to the city center, has already surpassed 60% physical completion. With 15 stations distributed over 15.3 km, the line will have the capacity to transport 630,000 passengers per day.

With a total investment of R$ 19 billion, the works of the São Paulo Metro 2025 are the responsibility of the concessionaire Linha Uni, part of the Spanish group Acciona. The current inauguration deadline is October 2026.

Tunnel Boring Machine Tatuzão Line 6 Accelerates Excavations

Two giant mechanical shields, known as Tunnel Boring Machine Tatuzão Line 6, are the protagonists in the opening of the underground tunnels. By April 2025, more than 14 km have been excavated, including sections between the Água Branca, Perdizes, and Santa Marina stations.

Next-Generation Trains Arrive in the Second Semester

Works of Line 6-Orange of the SP Metro exceed 60% completion in April 2025. With 15 stations and the use of the Tatuzão tunnel boring machine, the delivery is scheduled for 2026.

The 22 trains that will operate on the Line 6-Orange of the SP Metro are being manufactured by Alstom in Taubaté (SP) and will have the capacity to carry up to 2,044 passengers each. Delivery is scheduled for the second semester of 2025.

The line will also feature significant integrations with other metro-rail networks, including lines 1-Blue, 4-Yellow, and CPTM Lines 7 and 8, becoming a key piece in São Paulo’s public transportation.

Expansion Study to Mooca Is Underway

The Government of the State of São Paulo has authorized a feasibility study to expand Line 6-Orange to Mooca, including the neighborhoods of Aclimação and Cambuci. The proposal includes the addition of six new stations, further increasing the coverage of the metro system.

More than 10,500 workers, both direct and indirect, are currently mobilized on the construction sites, which continue to be one of the largest urban infrastructure projects underway in Brazil.
