A Space Camper Bike Combines Mobility And Camping In An Innovative Electric Bicycle That Comes Equipped With A Type Of Camping Tent To Protect You From The Elements When You Are Away From Home.
Now, there’s no need to fill your car with camping equipment before venturing into the outdoors. The German company Space Camper has come up with a new idea to change that. In addition to its recognized experience in transforming Volkswagen vehicles into motorhomes, the company has also tackled the challenging task of designing an electric bicycle adapted with a camping tent.
With this idea, the Space Camper Bike was born, featuring characteristics reminiscent of a Riese & Müller Load 75 cargo bike. The space allotted for cargo transport can transform into a lounge chair during the day and a bed for overnight stays.
The foldable handlebars provide the perfect mounting point for a portable table or dining surface. Besides being weatherproof, this electric bike with a camping tent is designed to “provide weekend camping pleasure and holiday fun”.

Co-founder and CEO of Space Camper, Ben Wawra, had the idea to adapt an electric bike and turn it into a type of “trailer.” The Load 75 model was chosen because it could support heavier loads, had more space, and was thus the perfect model for executing the idea.
The company showcased the electric bike with camping tent project at the Caravaning, Motor, Touristik 2023 (CMT) exhibition in Stuttgart, Germany, after working on it for a year.
All These Advantages And Innovations Of The Space Camper Electric Bicycle Will Not Come Cheap; When Equipped With All Accessories, The Vehicle Costs Approximately R$ 92 Thousand
Autoevolution states that with all these advantages, the e-bike will not come cheap. The Load 75 electric cargo bike has been available for purchase for almost ten years. The Bosch electric motor powers the vehicle, along with two 500 Wh batteries, suspension, and optional features such as hydraulic brakes and off-road tires are part of the package.
In the conversion, the most expensive model was used, which costs US$ 15,189 (about R$ 80,000 at the current exchange rate). Remember, this is the base price of the bike before any additions for the Space Camper are made.
The total price of the electric bike, along with accessories and the camping tent, can exceed US$ 18,000 (about R$ 92,000). The company claims that comparable models have attracted followers in Europe, despite the more niche market, particularly during the critical social isolation period in 2020.
