MEC and Colégio Pedro II Open Selection for Free Online Specialization Courses Aimed at Basic Education Teachers. Applications Open in October and Cover Courses in Teaching French and Chemistry.

The Ministry of Education and Colégio Pedro II published the Notice No. 45/2025 for the selection of Basic Education teachers in two lato sensu specializations, completely free and offered in distance learning mode.

In total, there are 150 spots planned for classes starting in the 2026 school year, distributed between the courses of Teaching French and Teaching Chemistry.

The selection will have an eliminatory and classificatory character, with evaluation centered on the letter of intent submitted by the candidates.

Online Specializations for 2026

The lato sensu postgraduate programs are aimed at pedagogical improvement of in-service teachers.

The Teaching French course offers 100 spots; while the Teaching Chemistry course offers 50 spots.

Being distance learning, the specializations expand national reach and allow for the balance of study and work, maintaining the academic standards of the federal institution.

Target Audience and Education Requirements

The selection process is aimed at licensed Basic Education teachers who are currently active.

For the specialization in Teaching French, a diploma in Language Degree with qualification in French or Portuguese–French is required.

In the case of Teaching Chemistry, the notice establishes a requirement of a Chemistry Degree diploma.

Proof of education must be presented according to the guidelines of the notice and within the deadlines defined in the selection.

Criteria and Classification Method

The selection will occur in a single phase, with analysis of documents submitted at the time of application and evaluation of the letter of intent.

The responsible committee will assign scores and organize the candidates in descending order, according to the criteria established in the notice.

In the event of a tie, the tiebreaking parameters described in the regulations will apply.

Any appeals will comply with the schedule and conditions officially provided.

Course, Certification, and Academic Organization

The specializations are lato sensu, with certification issued by Colégio Pedro II at the end of the course, provided that academic requirements are met.

The curriculum structure is specific to each area and includes components aimed at teaching in Basic Education, articulating theoretical foundations, teaching methodologies, and classroom practices.

The planning of activities takes into account the dynamics of remote teaching, with asynchronous components and synchronous moments defined by the coordinators, preserving the minimum total workload required for this type of training.

Free of Charge and Public Nature of the Offer

There is no charge for tuition or registration fees.

This initiative is part of the continuous teacher training policy in a federal education institution, focusing on free qualification and the improvement of teaching quality in basic education.

Funding, management of the selection process, and academic execution are under the responsibility of Colégio Pedro II, in alignment with the guidelines of the MEC.

Required Documentation and Candidate Responsibilities

To compete, the candidate must carefully observe the documentary requirements defined in the notice, highlighting the letter of intent, which must specify the connection to teaching practice, formative objectives, and the expected contribution of the course to pedagogical work.

Diplomas, transcripts, proof of experience, and other requested documents must be attached according to the formats and deadlines established.

The absence of any item, submission not adhering to the required standard, or late submission may result in elimination.

Monitoring of the Process and Official Communication

The progress of the selection, including the publication of results and any corrections, occurs exclusively through the official Colégio Pedro II channels.

It is the candidate’s responsibility to follow announcements, verify appeal deadlines, and comply with any additional steps provided in the schedule when called upon.

Information not officially disseminated has no effect on the selection.

Spots by Area and Expected Impact

The distribution of 100 spots in Teaching French and 50 spots in Teaching Chemistry was planned to meet frequent training demands in basic education, both in the area of Languages and in Natural Sciences.

It is expected that graduates will return to their networks with an updated teaching repertoire, mastery of methodologies, and specific resources for the Basic Education stage.

Thus, the initiative aims to strengthen pedagogical practice and contribute to the improvement of national educational indicators.

Applications: Dates, Submission, and Results

Applications are free and are done exclusively online, at the institutional website indicated in the notice.

The period specified by Colégio Pedro II in the promotional material is set to begin on October 6, 2025 and end at noon on November 4, 2025.

The documentation, including the letter of intent, must be submitted at the time of application, following the platform’s instructions. The final result is expected to be announced on December 2, 2025, according to the schedule.
