Last Friday (27), an operation was conducted by the PRF of Maranhão, which would escort a turbine from the Itaqui Port in São Luís to the Thermoelectric Plant in Santo Antônio dos Lopes. The route was made via BR 135, the only land route to leave São Luís, and is expected to last until December 6.

The turbine that was transported has the following dimensions: a length of 106 meters and a weight of 355 tons. Due to the overall weight of both the vehicle and the load, totaling 680 tons, it was emphasized by the specialized team that in some places with bridges along the route could not support the total weight. The trip between the 27th and 29th occurred during the morning from the Itaqui Port in São Luís to Santa Rita, a municipality near the capital, where it will be parked and will continue at night.
Equipment Assisting the Load to Cross the Turbine Over Bridges That Left Itaqui Port in São Luís
It is known that the load is heavy, and that some bridges cannot support this weight, so the team uses a resource called “over-bridges,” a setup installed over the bridges for the movement of the turbine, which would take more than 5 hours for installation.
