According to Experts from Brasscom, the Lack of Qualified IT Professionals Hinders Technological Advancement in the Country. Professionals Counter This Idea, Claiming That There Are No Opportunities for Beginners in the Field.
The information technology sector is fundamental for all countries looking to develop economically in a world increasingly driven by data analysis provided by users and computational solutions to everyday problems. The situation here in Brazil is no different, and the demand for IT professionals is expected to increase over the next few years. Therefore, currently, the training of IT professionals is already almost scarce.
According to data from a study by the Association of Information and Communication Technology Companies – TIC, and Digital Technologies – Brasscom, conducted last year, Brazil will need to hire more than 790,000 IT professionals by 2025, meaning that it will be necessary to train more than 150,000 people in the IT market. Currently, only 53,000 people are trained in the information technology – IT market annually.
The Information Technology Market – IT
Information technology is currently present in almost all sectors: from agribusiness companies, communication, cultural sector, health and security areas. The realization of automated analyses and data collection are crucial to guide companies and the economy as a whole.

“The Covid-19 pandemic further accelerated the digitalization of many businesses that were less digitalized or completely analog, as well as the need for information security professionals, which was already necessary before and aggravated by remote work,” stated Henrique Poyatos, regional coordinator of SP IT&C and the data-driven communication course at São Judas University.
“It is necessary to properly diagnose what is needed for companies, so that we can proceed to public policies and dialogue with educational networks and advance in curriculum and more modern methodologies,” emphasized Sergio Paulo Gallindo, president of Brasscom.
IT Market Is One of the Markets with the Most Demand
According to a survey conducted by the specialized human resources consultancy Manpower Group in 2022, Brazil ranks 9th in a ranking among countries where companies report difficulty in filling IT professional positions.
The information technology sector is first with a high demand for vacancies (40% of companies need hires) and second with the most difficulty in filling them (84%), just behind the banking sector (86%).
The demand for IT professionals has been growing worldwide, leading the IT market to heat up, as companies from various countries have been competing for the same professionals. As long as the dollar remains strong against the real, things are expected to remain challenging for foreign companies.
According to a Spokesperson from Envolti, the Lack of Professionals in the IT Market Causes a Delay in Technological Advancement
Thus, projects tend to suffer from the lack of qualified IT professionals.
“It brings a significant delay for companies seeking more competitiveness in the market, particularly in terms of higher quality delivery, service, and cost reduction. Effectively, projects become stalled and postponed,” commented Milton Felipe Helfenstein, spokesperson for Envolti, an information systems company.
“It already hinders the development of very necessary projects in various sectors because digital technology tends to dominate everything. We run the risk of being left behind,” warned labor market economist José Pastore from FEA-USP.
