Embrapa Roraima Event Encourages Women in Agriculture with Discussions on Training, Rural Women’s Empowerment, and Sustainable Innovation
Women in agriculture face historical challenges in accessing technical knowledge, public policies, and training opportunities.
Thinking about this, Embrapa Roraima is promoting, on October 16 and 17, the II Technical Meeting of Rural Women at the campus of the State University of Roraima (UERR) in Rorainópolis, according to a report published.
The event, held in partnership with Sebrae, the FAERR/Senar System, and UERR itself, aims to enhance women’s prominence in the field by connecting experiences and knowledge from different regions.

In the Brazilian Cerrado, the fields of murundus spread thousands of mounds up to 20 meters in diameter and over 1.5 meters in height in almost regular patterns over waterlogged soils, and the most accepted explanation points to termites reshaping the land for centuries until creating a landscape that looks drawn from above.

Spiny-free pineapple, sweeter and more resilient: Mato Grosso develops new cultivars that promise to reduce losses from fusariosis and increase productivity in the field.

Supply crisis in the Colorado River Basin raises concerns about the limits of consumption reduction amid extreme drought.

The expectation is to gather more than 400 participants from municipalities such as Boa Vista, Normandia, Cantá, Caroebe, São Luiz, Bonfim, Pacaraima, and Baliza.
The goal is to strengthen the role of women in family agriculture, promoting productive inclusion and sustainable development. Register by clicking here.
Rural Women Event Promotes Experience Sharing with a Focus on Agroecology and Agroforestry Systems
During two days of activities, participants will have access to more than 50 technical actions, including lectures, workshops, discussion groups, and practical demonstrations for women in agriculture.
The program covers topics such as bioeconomy, sustainability of agricultural systems, and public policies aimed at rural women.
Experiences related to agroecology and agroforestry systems will also be presented, with an emphasis on good practices for cultivating and managing regional crops such as açaí, banana, passion fruit, pitaya, sweet potato, vegetables, cotton, and melon.
Other topics include the processing of peppers, the propagation of cassava, and minimal food processing.
Additionally, the program includes discussions on the processing of Brazil nuts and the opportunities in cashew cultivation.
The rural women event, therefore, seeks to integrate knowledge and value technologies adapted to the Amazonian reality. Check the full program by clicking here.
Women’s Empowerment in the Field with Social Support and a Network of Complementary Services
The actions of the meeting go beyond technical aspects, including social activities aimed at the well-being of participants.
Psychological support will be provided through the Women: Living Without Violence Program, and personal hygiene kits will be distributed.
One of the innovations of this edition is the creation of a children’s reception area, designed to allow full participation of farming mothers.
This way, women’s empowerment in the field is promoted in a practical manner that is sensitive to local realities.
According to Embrapa Roraima’s General Manager, researcher Hyanameyka Lima Primo, the meeting is an opportunity to internalize research and strengthen rural communities.
She emphasizes that the prominence of women in agriculture is essential for sustainable development and food security in the state.
Technologies for Women in Agriculture and Strategic Partnerships in Promoting Rural Leadership
The meeting is a technology transfer action by Embrapa Roraima, made possible by a parliamentary amendment from Senator Mecias de Jesus.
The initiative is partnered with Sebrae, the FAERR/Senar System, UERR, the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture (MDA), the Ministry of Regional Development (MDR), Senai, Conab, the Government of Roraima, FAPERR, the OCB/RR System, IFRR, IATER, and the municipalities of Rorainópolis and Caroebe.
Embrapa researchers, university specialists, public agencies, and the private sector will participate in lectures and workshops.
In addition to technical presentations, there will be tastings of regional products and practical demonstrations of agricultural innovation.
The technologies for women in agriculture range from the management of native species to the utilization of farm production waste, reinforcing the importance of science as a tool for productive inclusion.
With these actions, the event solidifies its commitment to valuing women’s work and encouraging rural entrepreneurship. Women in agriculture are, therefore, the protagonists of change and sustainability in the field.
