The Multinational GE Renewable Energy Announced That It Will End Its Activities With Wind Turbines in Brazil, Benefiting the Market for WEG and Generating Negative Impacts for Aeris Energy.

The GE Renewable Energy, a division of the American multinational focused on renewable energy generation equipment, announced that it will cease the production of wind turbines in Brazil. This news is expected to have a significant impact on the national sustainable energy sector, considering that GE Renewable Energy is one of the largest suppliers of wind turbines in the country.

GE Renewable Energy Will Continue to Manage Already Contracted Projects

The multinational has over 3,000 wind turbines already in operation in the country, accounting for about 30% of the total market, serving almost all major generators. Other major suppliers include WEG, the German Nordex Acciona, and the Danish Vestas.

GE Renewable Energy confirmed the end of its operations; however, it states that it will continue to manage already contracted wind turbine projects and maintain the turbines in operation. The company claims that this move aims to realign operations with the current market reality, preparing its business for the future.

The maintenance and operation service areas and the activities of the factory in Camaçari, Bahia, for export, remain active to fulfill the company’s projects and contracts with clients.

In a statement, the company says it shares with its employees in Latin America a set of actions related to the transformation of its International Onshore Wind business aimed at adapting to the current market reality, preparing the business for the future.

The multinational reaffirms its total commitment to serving its clients and supporting all employees residing in the region. It is important to highlight that in addition to the wind turbine plant in Bahia, GE also has a blade manufacturing unit at the Port of Suape (PE).
