The multinational Midea Carrier announces the inauguration of its new refrigerator manufacturing plant and plans to create 500 new jobs in Pouso Alegre, a municipality in Minas Gerais. The announcement came from the mayor, Rafael Simões, this Thursday (24). The new factory in MG will focus on the production of refrigerators and will be located in the Algodão neighborhood, on an area of 200 thousand square meters. According to Midea, the company responsible for the project that will create new jobs, the Pouso Alegre headquarters will be the company’s third factory in the country, with the others in Manaus responsible for manufacturing microwaves and air conditioners and another in Rio Grande do Sul where coolers are produced.
Refrigerator Factory Will Have Revenue of Up to R$ 700 Million
According to the mayor of the municipality of MG, it is an honor to announce the arrival of a factory from a company that is recognized worldwide, with more than five decades of history and present in over 200 countries. All companies that came to the state and signed protocols with the city hall have exceeded their goals, and Simões is confident that it will be no different with Midea, as he knows and trusts the quality of their refrigerators and their work.
According to the CEO of Midea Carrier, Felipe Costa, in recent years the company has significantly expanded its market share by entering various categories of appliances with imported products and now it is time to invest in local manufacturing to continue expanding further. The goal of the refrigerator company is to be among the top three players in the sector by 2027.

The company provides high-level technology in its various air conditioning products, refrigerators, and other appliances, bringing practicality, comfort, and energy efficiency to commercial and residential environments, contributing to people’s well-being and environmental sustainability.
Governor Romeu Zema was also present at the online event and stated that the arrival of yet another renowned company shows how committed MG is to attracting investments and generating jobs, achieving significant advances in the state.
The IBGE shows that in 2021 the GDP of Minas Gerais grew about 5% higher than Brazil’s, which was 4.6%. With various incentives generated by the State, the results are starting to emerge, creating numerous jobs and income.

Midea Carrier is the result of the merger of two large companies in the market founded in 2011 with the aim of producing and distributing products in Brazil, Chile, and Argentina, being the largest manufacturer of climate control equipment in Latin America.
In total, there are four factories, three in Brazil and one in Argentine soil, with more than 3,500 employees. In the last three years, the company sold over three million units across Brazil.
