Fiat’s Compact Hatch Remains the Cheapest Automatic Car in Brazil, Features Full-LED Headlights in the 2026 Lineup, and Will Soon Be Replaced by the Grande Panda, Yet Still Records Good Sales and Competitive Consumption.

The Fiat Argo Drive 1.3 CVT remains the cheapest automatic car available in the country.

In the 2026 lineup, the hatch received full-LED headlights on the 1.3 engine versions and maintained the value proposition for those seeking a clutchless transmission at lower prices.

In September 2025, the ranking position was reaffirmed by specialized publications.

What’s New in the 2026 Argo Lineup

The most visible update of the Argo 2026 is in the optical assembly.

The Drive 1.3 CVT and Trekking 1.3 CVT versions now come with full-LED headlights, and additionally, fog lights also in LED.

In other configurations, the hatch adopts a LED light signature.

The lineup also received wireless mirroring for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the versions with multimedia center and glossy black external mirrors in the Drive versions.

Inside, the entire portfolio gained a darkened finish, a solution that already existed in the Trekking and was extended to other versions to standardize the visual proposal.

According to the brand itself, the strategy is to reinforce the perception of modernity until the arrival of the successor.

1.3 Firefly Engine and CVT

Fiat Argo Drive 1.3 is the cheapest automatic car in Brazil, with full-LED headlights, consumption of up to 14.3 km/l, and a price starting at R$ 92,000.

The automatic Argo continues with the 1.3 Firefly engine, a flex four-cylinder engine that delivers up to 107 hp and 13.7 kgfm with ethanol.

The transmission is a CVT with seven simulated gears, solution aimed at smoothness and efficiency in urban use.

The official figures for power and torque, as well as information about the transmission, are detailed in the technical sheet released by the manufacturer.

In addition to the powertrain, the hatch retains essential assistance items, such as stability and traction controls and hill start assist.

For those seeking a sportier look and some added convenience, the S-Design optional package remains available for the Drive 1.3 CVT.

This package adds darkened elements and features such as digital air conditioning and alloy wheels.

Official Consumption of the Argo 1.3 CVT

In tests by the Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program (PBEV), the Argo Drive 1.3 CVT registers 12.8 km/l in the city and 14.3 km/l on the highway with gasoline, as well as 9.0/10.3 km/l with ethanol.

These are the official data reported for the 2026’s automatic 1.3 version.

Although the headline mentions “up to 14.7 km/l”, the homologated figure for the Argo 1.3 CVT is 14.3 km/l on highways with gasoline.

Price of the Automatic Argo

At the launch of the 2026 lineup in March 2025, Fiat announced R$ 102,990 as the suggested price for the Drive 1.3 CVT, with the Trekking 1.3 CVT at R$ 106,990.

Throughout the year, the listed prices went through adjustments, and competing vehicles also became more expensive, which helps explain the retention of the title as the most affordable automatic.

When observing the Fipe Table, the reference market for buying and selling, the picture is different.

In September 2025, the Argo Drive 1.3 CVT 2025 appears around R$ 89,246, while the Drive 1.3 CVT 2026 is listed close to R$ 94,477.

These are averages gathered from the national market and help explain why “R$ 92,000” is mentioned as the entry level for an automatic Argo depending on the year/model and condition of the vehicle.

Equipment and Connectivity

Even while targeting the price, the automatic Argo combines a balanced package for the segment.

Electric steering, air conditioning, cruise control, and Sport mode are present in the 1.3 versions.

The configurations with a multimedia center offer wireless mirroring.

The full-LED headlights in the 1.3 versions enhance passive safety at night.

The LED fog lights can be part of the package, either standard or optional, depending on the chosen version.

Successor Already Defined by Fiat

Fiat Argo Drive 1.3 is the cheapest automatic car in Brazil, with full-LED headlights, consumption of up to 14.3 km/l, and a price starting at R$ 92,000.

Launched in Brazil in 2017, the Argo is in its final stretch of the cycle.

Stellantis confirmed that the Grande Panda will be produced in Betim starting in 2026 and will replace the Argo in the Brazilian market.

Therefore, there is a window of coexistence where the hatch continues with updated lines and aggressive prices while the network prepares for the transition.

Argo Still Competitive in the Segment

In a scenario of more expensive and increasingly automated compacts, the Argo Drive 1.3 CVT occupies a specific niche.

The proposal is to offer an automatic transmission at a manual price point.

The combination of competitive homologated consumption, LED headlights in the 1.3 versions, and wireless connectivity keeps the model relevant until the successor arrives.

The question now is the timing of the purchase and evaluation of versions, as the suggested table itself coexists with significantly lower Fipe values for some configurations.

Would you pay less for a Argo Drive 1.3 CVT based on Fipe, or would you prefer to invest a little more in a new model still in the 2026 lineup, even knowing that the successor arrives already in 2026?

Não existe Mobi e nem Kwid automáticos, então na real a comparação do Argo é somente com o HB20 e Onix.
