Port of Pecém Receives Ship Papa John in Discharge Operation with More Than 10 Thousand Tons of Fertilizers to Heat Ceará Market
The Port of Pecém conducted a significant operation this last Sunday for the Ceará market, with the discharge of the ship Papa John, coming from China with more than 10 thousand tons of fertilizers for commercialization in the country. The goods arrived at the Ceará complex in big bags, that is, packaging used to transport solid or pasty materials used in agricultural, chemical, mineral extraction, and construction industries, ensuring greater safety in transportation.
The discharge of the ship marked a significant operation for the economy of the state of Ceará, as commented by the commercial manager of Tecer Terminais, a company that operates as an operational service provider at the Port of Pecém and develops integrated logistics solutions, Carlos Alberto Nunes.

The executive highlighted that this type of operation ensures economic movement not only of the port complex but also of the entire state of Ceará, which will benefit from the outsourced services for the port.
Moreover, Carlos Alberto Nunes emphasized the importance of the arrival of fertilizers to the national territory in a scenario of instability in the international export and import market of these products.
The geopolitical conflicts between Russia and Ukraine have been creating serious problems regarding trade relations between entire countries and have caused a real crisis in the supply of fertilizers in Brazil. Now, the country is receiving the discharge of these products again and is gradually stabilizing regarding the demand for this type of merchandise, essential for the agricultural sector.
Discharge of the Ship at the Port of Pecém Reaffirms Opening of International Economy for Product Commercialization
After the onset of geopolitical conflicts between Russia and Ukraine, ports around the world experienced trade closures, causing a strong impact on fertilizer imports. Furthermore, China underwent a long period of lockdowns at its complexes and faced gigantic queues for operations, but the discharge of the ship Papa John at the Port of Pecém marked an opening and flexibilization of the international economy.
Thus, Carlos Alberto Nunes highlighted: “The arrival of this new cargo is a major reason for celebration, as the long queues of ships at the main ports of China, caused by lockdowns, have impacted the supply of containers and pressured maritime freight costs. As a result, importers and exporters have sought alternatives using the ‘break bulk’ segment (general cargo), where transportation is done individually, in fractional loads stowed on board the ships, without the need to use containers.”
The executive concluded that he has been working strongly in the last three years to boost the entry of goods into Brazil from the Chinese market and that, with the discharge of the ship at the Ceará port, he sees a more favorable future regarding this relationship. Thus, the discharge operation has ensured not only benefits to the economy but also a new perspective for future growth.
