Neodent Opens R$2 Billion Factory in Curitiba, Expanding Complex to 80,000 m² and Aiming for 15 Million Implants Per Year with Potential 2,000 Jobs by 2031
Curitiba has just welcomed the largest industrial expansion in Neodent’s history. The company’s third factory, inaugurated in the Industrial City of Curitiba (CIC), adds 42,000 m² of built area and is part of an investment plan of up to R$2 billion (about US$360 million) that will be executed by 2031.
The project’s scale is reflected in three numbers: capacity could reach 15 million dental implants per year, the workforce could gain up to 2,000 new direct jobs, and the new facility will enable the company to more than double its current production volume. The expansion keeps Curitiba as the global manufacturing hub for the Brazilian brand, now part of the Swiss group Straumann.
Investment of Up to R$2 Billion is Neodent’s Largest Ever Announced
The investment will be made gradually until 2031, when the new factory is expected to reach its full capacity. According to the company, it represents the largest investment in its history. Construction began in October 2024, and at peak times, around 400 workers were simultaneously engaged on site.

The new plant spans 42,000 m². Combined with existing structures, Neodent’s industrial area in Curitiba expands from approximately 40,000 m² to nearly 80,000 m², according to figures released by Exame. The company states that the complex is among the largest dental implant industrial centers in the world.
Production Could Jump from About 7 Million to 15 Million Implants Per Year
The expansion was designed to meet growing demand both domestically and internationally. Current capacity is around 7 million implants per year and could reach 15 million starting in 2031, more than doubling today’s output.
This production will not be restricted to the Brazilian market. Neodent reports a presence in 98 countries and maintains its global manufacturing base in Curitiba. The company’s president, Alexei Troyano Costa, linked the investment to rising international demand and the strengthening of the industrial operation established in Paraná.
New Factory Doubles Available Space for CNC Machines and Enhances Automation
The capacity leap directly relates to production technology. Neodent states that the new facility is designed to be its most modern manufacturing site, featuring higher precision equipment, process traceability, and space to double the number of CNC machines compared to current operations in Curitiba.
Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines are used in the manufacturing of implants and prosthetic components. They allow for high-precision machining to be carried out repetitively, a crucial feature for medical parts produced in large volumes that need to maintain strict dimensions.
Even with advancements in automation, the company emphasizes that the model does not eliminate the need for specialized professionals. Neodent’s Vice President of Production, Almir Zvetz, summarizes the strategy: “Although highly automated, the operation will be hybrid, combining advanced technology with skilled labor.”
Up to 2,000 direct jobs could be created as operations expand
The job creation is expected to occur gradually until 2031. Neodent anticipates up to 2,000 new direct jobs, representing a growth of over 50% in the company’s current workforce.
During the construction phase alone, more than 4,500 people submitted resumes for project-related positions. The company also offers external professional training programs aimed at developing a skilled workforce, a necessity that is growing along with the number of machines, automated systems, and high-precision processes.
Factory operates on renewable energy and is designed to seek LEED certification
The new facility also focuses on environmental measures. The unit operates on 100% renewable energy, implements a water reuse system in sanitary flushes, preserves over 7,100 square meters of green space, and adopts a zero landfill policy to enhance recycling, reuse, composting, and energy recovery of waste.
During construction, the project utilized BIM, a digital methodology that integrates construction information into models that assist with planning, execution, and management. The company also aims for LEED certification for the unit, an international standard applied to buildings that meet sustainability and efficiency criteria.
Curitiba is the center of production for a Brazilian brand present in 98 countries
Founded in Curitiba over three decades ago, Neodent has maintained its main industrial structure in the Paraná capital despite being integrated into the Straumann Group. With this third factory, the facilities will form the Neodent Industrial Complex Dr. Geninho Thomé, named in honor of the company’s founder.
The decision to concentrate expansion in Paraná reinforces a movement toward internationalization supported by Brazilian production. The group had previously indicated in its 2026 results that it would increase Curitiba’s capacity to meet both regional demand and the global growth of the Neodent brand.

Machinery, teams, and production will be progressively incorporated until 2031, the year when the company expects to reach 15 million implants annually and complete the application of up to R$ 2 billion (about US$ 360 million) earmarked for the project.
