We have a lot of oil producing in Brazil but there is no way to refine it, Comperj could solve this problem by avoiding the purchase of products abroad

O comperj will complete on March 31, 10 years since the beginning of works in Itaboraí-RJ, but due to the corruption schemes discovered by Lava-jato that were overbilling the works, the venture's operations were interrupted for investigation. The Rio de Janeiro Petrochemical Complex was designed to process around 8% of the Brazilian oil production and to dispose of pre-salt production from the Santos Basin.

According to the ANP (National Petroleum Agency), while the production of oil derivatives declined by 4,7% in 2017 compared to 2016, exports hit the unprecedented mark of 206,8 million in 2017, in other words, Brazil is paying more for foreigners to refine the oil produced here. The country extracts it, sends it abroad and then buys it back, raising the price of everything we consume in the country.

The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) decided to take charge of the situation and created a task force to stimulate investments in the refining and petrochemicals segment in Brazil, in which Comperj is one of the main scopes. In approximately 2 months, this report will be shown to the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE), which certainly finds solutions to this problem.

The forecast for the resumption of works, according to Petrobras and the union, is for March of this year. The Chinese company Shangdong Kerui, together with its associated company Modelo Potencial, took over the works after winning the tender opened by Petrobras in 2017 in the amount of BRL 1.947.000,00. Now all that remains is to sign the contract with Petrobras and who will be responsible for hiring will be IESA. Not to mention other outsourced companies that are waiting for the signing of contracts for the provision of indirect services.
