Preparations Have Begun for the Tests of the First Flights of the Fully Electric Luxury Airplane That Holds Huge Lithium-Ion Batteries

The Israeli company Eviation has partnered with Australian electric motor manufacturer magniX to produce Alice — a luxury electric airplane powered by three magniX Electric Propulsion Units. Alice is now officially preparing to take to the skies with its giant lithium-ion batteries!

Alice has impressive specifications, especially considering it is a pioneer in the field of electric aircraft, with a range of 814 km, powered by a massive 820 kWh lithium-ion battery, which at 3,720 kg accounts for 60% of the aircraft’s total payload.

Interest in the Electric Airplane Is Understandably High

The latest electric airplane is perfect for short-haul flights, which make up the majority of flights around the world. Air travel accounts for 2.5% of global carbon dioxide emissions. Therefore, Alice does not emit emissions during flights and, when released, will be the most environmentally friendly airplane on the market.

In October 2019, Eviation reported orders for over 150 Alice electric airplanes from just two companies. Each unit of Alice is estimated to be sold for around US$ 4 million. Eviation initially planned two versions of Alice: a non-pressurized model intended for air taxi (thus a cheaper model) and a pressurized model for extended flights.

For now, the electric airplane is only functioning in one model, the pressurized Alice Commuter. Alice offers an unparalleled experience, capable of cruising at speeds of 407 km/h. The luxury aircraft has lower maintenance and operating costs. This results in a lower price per flight than a fuel-powered airplane.

The Electric Airplane Will Be Available for the First Time in the United States and the European Union

Made with composite materials to reduce weight as much as possible, the electric airplane will be available for the first time in the United States and the European Union. As noted above, deliveries are expected to begin in 2024, with a price of US$ 4 million.

Eviation is convinced that “the future of transportation is electric,” so Alice will pave the way for all others.

The latest electric airplane will redefine air mobility and usher in a new era of transportation solutions: luxurious, yet economical and, perhaps, just as importantly, sustainable. “Alice is not a big airplane that we managed to make electric. It’s a great airplane because it’s electric,” says Eviation. Let’s hope the day comes when we can talk about Alice in the present tense, without hopes and desired estimates.
