There Were “Many Injured,” at Least Seven Confirmed, and some of them were in serious condition, said Sergeant Brian McGregor of the Kenner Police Department to The Associated Press. He said he expected the number of injured from the explosion on Sunday on Lake Pontchartrain to rise.
No Deaths Have Been Reported So Far
Five of those injured were taken to hospitals with “injuries and burns,” said Mike Guillot, director of Emergency Medical Services in East Jefferson, to the media. He added that they are in serious condition.
“Authorities at the scene of the explosion reported that cleaning chemicals exploded on the surface of the platform,” the city of Kenner said on its Facebook page on Sunday afternoon.
