Chinese Brands Continue Their Expansion in Brazil, with the Arrival of Omoda and Jaecoo, Both Belonging to the Chery Group, Anticipating the Start of Car Sales in the Country in 2024.
The brands of cars Omoda and Jaecoo, which are part of the Chery group, have confirmed their arrival in Brazil in 2024 with a joint operation called Omoda | Jaecoo. This new venture will have a separate and independent business model from what Chery currently practices in partnership with Caoa, just as the Chinese giant will do with Exeed, which will also have confirmed presence in our market.

In a statement, Omoda | Jaecoo revealed that it will launch three cars in Brazil at this first moment, one under the Omoda brand and two with the Jaecoo brand. Omoda will have a more technological profile, while Jaecoo will appeal more to SUVs, off-road and robust models.
According to the company, all Omoda | Jaecoo vehicles sold in Brazil will be equipped with electrified powertrains, including mild hybrids, conventional, plug-in, or 100% electric models. This strategy places the Chinese brands in a competitive position with other companies from the same country, such as GWM and BYD.

Merging of Electric Car Brands Announced During Event in Shanghai
The announcement of the merger of electric car brands Omoda and Jaecoo was made during the Shanghai Auto Show, held in April of this year. During the event, three models were presented: the Omoda 5 electric, the Jaecoo 5 and Jaecoo 7. However, it is more likely that the company will choose to launch the Omoda 5 mild hybrid and select two other models from Jaecoo to complete the launch lineup, one of which could possibly be the Jaecoo 9.
According to Omoda | Jaecoo, the operational process is still in its early stages, with professional selection to establish the office in the country. However, the company assures that the recent announcement by the federal government regarding the return of taxes on electrified cars will not affect the installation plans in the Brazilian market.
