OnePlus’s New Bet Catches Attention for Advanced Performance, Extended Battery Life, and Exclusive Gaming Features, Promising to Change the Expectations of the Premium Segment in 2025.

OnePlus has officially launched the Ace 3 Pro, solidifying its bet on advanced gaming performance and extended energy autonomy.

The device comes to the Chinese market with the promise of transforming the references in the premium segment, standing out for its use of the innovative “Glacier Battery,” a 6,100 mAh cell developed in partnership with CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited), a global reference in batteries.

According to the manufacturer, the battery maintains 80% of its original capacity even after 1,600 complete charge and discharge cycles — equivalent to approximately four years of intense use.

Despite its high capacity, the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro stands out for being less than 9 mm thick, which is a significant advantage over high-performance competitors.

The model even surpasses the capacity of flagship devices like the OnePlus 12 (5,400 mAh) and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (5,000 mAh), without sacrificing ergonomics or design.

Performance and Hardware

The new flagship from OnePlus is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, combined with up to 24 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

This configuration positions the Ace 3 Pro among the most powerful Android smartphones on the market in 2025.

According to the brand, this is the first Android device officially capable of running Genshin Impact at 120 frames per second (fps), performance made possible by a redesigned cooling system that dissipates the heat generated during long gaming sessions.

Battery Life and Ultra-Fast Charging

The “Glacier Battery” not only offers high energy density but also features SuperVOOC charging at 100 W via cable, allowing the device to reach a full charge from 0 to 100% in about 32 minutes, according to internal tests by OnePlus.

However, charging via USB Power Delivery (USB PD) is limited to 13.5 W, a restriction observed in several Chinese devices and which still generates discussions about the need for global standardization in fast charging.

With a promise of up to two days of autonomy for intense use and public guarantees regarding battery durability, the Ace 3 Pro advances the debate on the longevity of premium smartphones, surpassing traditional gaming models like the Red Magic 9 Pro (6,500 mAh) and ROG Phone 8 (5,500 mAh), which do not offer the same guarantees in battery cycles.

LTPO AMOLED Display and Refined Design

The OnePlus Ace 3 Pro adopts a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED 8T display, with a resolution of 2,780 x 1,264 pixels (1.5K) and a variable refresh rate from 1 Hz to 120 Hz.

The maximum brightness reaches 4,500 nits, protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while the screen-to-body ratio reaches 94.2%, resulting from reduced bezels and the discreet cutout for the speaker.

OnePlus presented the model in three distinct finishes: matte glass, vegan leather, and polished ceramic.

All feature a metallic frame and IP65 certification, which ensures resistance against dust and splashes of water, but not against immersion.

The design combines sophistication and robustness, appealing to different consumer profiles.

Cameras and Photography Features

In the camera set, the Ace 3 Pro maintains the standard of the Ace family, featuring a 50-megapixel (MP) Sony IMX890 main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), accompanied by an 8 MP ultrawide lens and a 2 MP macro lens.

Video recording in 4K is possible at up to 60 fps.

The front camera has 16 MP, aimed at selfies and 1080p video calls.

There is no telephoto lens, but the software includes capture modes developed collaboratively with mobile photography communities, following the trend of the brand’s recent launches.

Game Optimizations and User Experience

In addition to the powerful processor, OnePlus incorporated into the Ace 3 Pro the HyperBoost Game Frame Stabilization Engine 2.0, which works alongside the frame rate controller of ColorOS 14.1 to maintain stable performance, even during prolonged gaming sessions.

Another feature is the RainWater Touch, a resource that maintains the screen’s touch sensitivity even when wet — a functionality especially useful for outdoor use.

The device also features stereo audio with Spatial Audio certification, providing enhanced sound immersion in games, videos, and music.

The classic three-stage physical button for quick notification adjustment remains on the right side of the structure, a trademark of the company’s devices.

Connectivity and Embedded Technologies

In terms of connectivity, the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro supports 5G SA/NSA, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and infrared emitter, expanding usage possibilities in different scenarios.

The optical under-display fingerprint reader reinforces the commitment to security and practicality.

It is worth noting that the IP65 certification protects against low-pressure water jets but does not allow for immersion, a standard adopted by OnePlus since the Ace 2 Pro line.

Price, Availability, and Market Context

The Ace 3 Pro went on sale in China with an initial price of 3,199 yuan (about R$ 2,300 in direct conversion) for the version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.

The top-of-the-line model, with 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, goes for 4,599 yuan (approximately R$ 3,300).

So far, there is no official confirmation about a global launch.

In recent years, the brand has often adapted the Ace line for the international market, but the Ace 2 Pro, for example, remained exclusive to China.

Industry analysts point out that, if launched outside of Asia, the Ace 3 Pro could come with another name, like OnePlus 12T, but the manufacturer does not confirm information about the model’s future.

Trends in the Gaming Segment and Market Impact

OnePlus’s strategy in launching the Ace 3 Pro reinforces the trend in the Chinese market to invest in high energy density batteries and extended lifespan.

Recently, Vivo introduced the BlueVolt battery (5,800 mAh and 1,500 cycles), and Xiaomi is investing in prototypes with a higher concentration of silicon in the anode.

In practice, the technology employed by OnePlus brings traditional smartphones closer to the performance of gaming devices, which previously relied on bulky cooling systems or extra modules to maintain performance.

Combining high autonomy, support for 120 fps in heavy games, and aggressive pricing in the Chinese market, the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro has the potential to redefine expectations regarding battery life and graphics performance in premium smartphones.

Given these innovations and promises, the main question is: to what extent will the durability of the “Glacier Battery” and performance in heavy games be determining factors for users when choosing their next gaming smartphone?
