Embrapa Researchers Are Constantly Honored for Their Fundamental Role in Brazilian Agribusiness.
Among them is Christiane Abreu de Oliveira Paiva, from the Soil Microbiology area of Embrapa Corn and Sorghum, who led the team responsible for identifying bacteria capable of increasing phosphorus absorption by plants. A study that was quite significant and contributes to the development of national crops.
Agrishow 2023 Tribute
The research results – which culminated in the launch of the commercial products BiomaPhos (Simbiose Agro/Bioma Group), Omsugo ECO and Omsugo P (Corteva Agriscience), and SolubPhos (United States, by the Simbiose Agro group) – were considered so important that it led Embrapa researcher Christiane Paiva to receive the “Agrishow 2023 Tribute” – which annually recognizes relevant efforts and contributions to Brazilian agribusiness.
This honor is awarded by Abag (Brazilian Agribusiness Association), Abimaq (Brazilian Association of Machinery and Equipment Industry), Anda (National Association for Fertilizer Dissemination), Faesp (Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of the State of São Paulo), and SRB (Brazilian Rural Society) – important institutions that recognize the relevance of researchers’ actions.

Unable to pass through Hormuz, Brazil activated a plan B that uses Turkey as a gateway to the Middle East: the route through Gibraltar and the Mediterranean is longer and more expensive but ensures that chicken, beef, and corn continue to reach Arab markets.
The tribute will be presented during the opening ceremony of the 28th International Agricultural Technology Fair in Action, or Agrishow 2023, on May 1st, in Ribeirão Preto-SP.
Christiane Paiva reports that the tribute represents not only a distinction of her work but also a remarkable recognition of women, scientists, and researchers at a time when Embrapa celebrates 50 years. She emphasizes that this impact on society from her team is significant and gives back to society what has been invested in research and science.
How Can This Study Boost Agricultural Productivity in Brazil?
Moreover, the researcher emphasizes that the biological solutions generated through research and science have the potential to reduce costs for the producer and stimulate an entire production chain. She led a solution that brings significant gains in productivity and cost reduction for the producer.
Therefore, the tribute is a great achievement for the researcher, for Embrapa Corn and Sorghum, for Embrapa, and especially for Brazil, bringing benefits, sustainability, and advancements in the productivity of agricultural crops. The technology developed has been a significant advancement in phosphate fertilization management, significantly boosting the field in Brazil and around the world.
