Ship Skandi Botafogo (AHTS) gets another year of contract with Petrobras. It is the second extension of the contract between Petroleira and DOF in the last 10 days.
Petrobras does not stop extending the contracts that are now expiring in this month of June. The Norwegian DOF got the extension of another contract for its offshore support vessels.
This time the winner was the AHTS class ship Skandi Botafogo (Support for anchor handling, towing and platform supply operations).
The new contract with Petrobras will be valid for 1 year and will start to be valid as of this month. The old contract was signed in April of last year and came into effect in June of that year.

Increase in Offshore activities
The increase in demand for maritime support vessels was already foreseen as offshore activities, both by Petrobras and by foreign oil companies, have been intensifying.
Recent studies carried out by the Secretary of Economic Development of Rio de Janeiro, which were presented during the Nor-Shipping 2019 fair, in Oslo, Norway, point to a very optimistic scenario for the national shipbuilding industry, after 5 years of crisis.
The study points to a need by the year 2030 for 270 new vessels to support Exploration and Production activities.
The addition of vessels was based on a scenario with 35 floating rigs and 50 FPSOs in the country and would be 200 to assist around 50 FPSOs and 70 to support a projected fleet of 35 floating rigs.
Less than 10 days ago, Petrobras and DOF announced a one-year extension of the contract for the vessel Skandi Hav, which has a contract and has been working for the state-owned company since 2009.
