The ISCC Certification Reinforces the State-Owned Company’s Commitment to Low Carbon Footprint Operations and Sustainability. Now, Petrobras Will Produce Diesel R at Repar with Even Greater Environmental Commitment.

The state-owned company Petrobras has significant sustainability initiatives for the national refining market. In February of this year, it received the ISCC (International Sustainability Carbon & Certification) certification, one of the most important in the global market. The document attests to the company’s commitment to low-carbon production in processing Diesel R, carried out at the Repar refinery (Refinaria Presidente Getúlio Vargas).

Petrobras Receives ISCC Sustainability and Environmental Commitment Certificate for the Production and Processing of Diesel R at the Repar Refinery, Located in Paraná

Petrobras recently announced that it received the international certificate for the co-processing unit that produces Diesel R at the Presidente Getúlio Vargas Refinery — Repar, located in Araucária, PR.

The certification granted by ISCC (International Sustainability Carbon & Certification) is considered one of the most traditional certifications in the market and is used for the sustainability of raw materials and products.

In addition to assessing the quantification of greenhouse gas emissions, the certification also evaluates whether the entire production chain is environmentally responsible and aligns with fundamental human rights.

The certification is a global trend for products with sustainable content, as it makes the production chain traceable and validates sustainability principles through rigorous external audits.

Petrobras is committed to producing with environmental and social responsibility, and obtaining this certificate is a significant step in that direction.

The Director of Commercialization and Logistics at Petrobras, Cláudio Rogério Mastella, commented on receiving the certification. He stated that this achievement is a result of the company’s efforts for greater sustainability in Diesel R production.

Meanwhile, the Director of Refining and Natural Gas at Petrobras, Rodrigo Costa, said: “our teams are working on various fronts to ensure that Petrobras is among the world’s most efficient companies.”

Furthermore, the certification can also bring competitive advantages to the company, as more and more consumers are seeking products produced in an environmentally responsible and socially fair manner.

Production at the Repar Refinery of Diesel R with ISCC Sustainability Certification Reinforces the State-Owned Company’s Commitment to the Global Energy Market

Diesel R is a fuel produced through the co-processing of mineral diesel and vegetable oil. It contains a portion of green diesel (HVO in English), which can vary from 5% (Diesel R5) to 10% (Diesel R10).

With its production at the Repar refinery, Petrobras is leading the transition to a low-carbon economy and demonstrating its commitment to protecting the environment.

The guarantee of ISCC sustainability certification adds even more reliability to the state-owned company’s operations in this asset.

Moreover, Diesel R can also help reduce the country’s dependence on fossil fuels and stimulate the development of a stronger and more sustainable biofuels industry.

The company is increasingly focused on sustainability initiatives to make its products more aligned with the global environmental agenda. Sandro Barreto, Executive Manager of Domestic Market Commercialization, stated that the state-owned company is getting closer to the end consumer to understand their needs.

With the new ISCC sustainability certification and the expansion of Diesel R production at Repar, Petrobras is advancing its ESG projects for 2023.
