The company announced an investment plan of R$ 100 million at its Pernambuco base, aiming to meet the growing demand for fuel throughout the year.

One of the largest companies in the Brazilian Energy Market, Vibra Energia is now witnessing a strong boom in the biodiesel sector in the Northeastern states of the country.

The company set a record for transporting the fuel via cabotage at Brazilian ports in 2022. Now, it is preparing for an investment strategy in infrastructure and operational capacity at the Suape Complex in Pernambuco.

It announced a plan to invest R$ 100 million to nearly double its fuel storage capacity at its Pernambuco base. The goal is to boost its biodiesel cabotage operations as the demand for the product is high.

Expanding fuel storage capacity in Suape will make the transportation route between the South and Southeast to the Northeast even more efficient over the coming months.

The investment of R$ 100 million at the Pernambuco base was one of the first missions of the new president of Vibra Energia, Ernesto Pousada. He is focusing on market opportunities for Brazil in 2023.

Thus, the biodiesel sector is expected to be one of Vibra Energia’s main focuses in the coming months.

Company Set a Record and Transported Over 63 Million Liters of Biodiesel via Cabotage in 2022, with the Heating of the Fuel Market

The opportunities in the biodiesel market in 2023 are the result of a strong boom in the sector throughout last year.

Vibra Energia strategically capitalized on the demand for the product in 2022. According to reports, over 63 million liters of biodiesel were transported from the Port of Rio Grande (RS) to Suape (PE).

Consequently, maritime transportation of biodiesel increased by 33% compared to 2021, demonstrating the fuel’s relevance in the national scenario.

The Executive Vice President of Operations, Logistics, and Sourcing, Marcelo Fernandes Bragança, commented on the 2022 landscape in the biofuels sector, as well as Vibra Energia’s presence in Suape.

“The alliance between logistical efficiency and sustainability, along with increased productivity and cost reduction, results mainly in benefits to the environment, with a reduction in atmospheric pollution and a structuring of more sustainable processes. Vibra is working to be even more efficient by seeking alternatives towards its energy transition and that of its clients,” he said.

With the investment of R$ 100 million in expanding operational capacity in Suape, Vibra Energia is gearing up for a year of even greater results in biodiesel cabotage in 2023.
