The Brazilian state-owned company said it will be included in the Corporate Sustainability Index. A fact that has not occurred since 2008 with Petrobras

Petrobras will once again be part of B3's ISE – Corporate Sustainability Index. According to a note released by the Brazilian state-owned company, the company will be part of the main Brazilian index in terms of corporate sustainability in 2021, a fact that has not occurred since 2008.

Check out other news of the day:

Roberto Castello Branco, president of the company said that “The return to the ISE is a recognition of our efforts and initiatives in the environmental, social and governance aspects. Our 2021-2025 Strategic Plan presents the model of dual resilience, economic and environmental, with a focus on low carbon. We are committed to accelerating the decarbonization of our processes and products through new technologies.”

What is the ISE:

Created in 2005 by the São Paulo Stock Exchange (Bovespa) in partnership with professional entities linked to the capital market, in addition to Fundação Getúlio Vargas, Instituto Ethos and the Ministry of the Environment, the index aims to offer investors a portfolio option consisting of actions of companies that have a recognized commitment to social responsibility and corporate sustainability.

Its creation was financed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the financial arm of the World Bank, whose mission is to promote investments in the private sector of developing countries, with the main objective of reducing poverty and promoting better quality of life through Corporate Sustainability.

The Index is a tool for comparatively analyzing the performance of companies listed on B3 in terms of corporate sustainability, based on economic efficiency, environmental balance, social justice and corporate governance.

The index adopts the international Triple Bottom Line (TBL) concept, which evaluates, in an integrated manner, the economic-financial, social and environmental dimensions of companies, plus criteria and indicators of corporate governance such as the Johannesburg Stock Exchange index.
