“The actions were defined based on the evaluation of the company’s context and therefore with special attention to the operational areas where female representation is lower. Currently, women represent 17% of the company’s workforce. Of the total leaders, across all hierarchical positions, women account for 15%”, said the state-owned company.
It is worth noting that one of the recent advances occurred in the composition of Petrobras’ senior leadership. In the last two years, the number of executive managers (the first level below the board) increased from 5 to 12, representing 30% of the total positions in this function. Among the directors, women hold two of the eight seats, or 25% of the total. There is also one woman on Petrobras’ Board of Directors. At Transpetro, the Board of Directors includes the participation of a Black woman.
Petrobras Female Leadership Mentoring Program
Petrobras employees selected for the Female Leadership Mentoring Program (a pilot project with 15 spots, including 11 for women and leaders of operational areas) will participate in meetings with mentors, as well as workshops, webinars, and meetings, with directors Andrea Almeida, of Finance and Investor Relations, and Anelise Lara, of Refining and Natural Gas, as mentors.
Part of Petrobras’ plans includes increasing internal diversity regarding racial representation. “Currently, the company is making an effort to encourage employees to update their self-declaration of color and race in the company’s records. Based on more accurate information about the internal context, actions will be developed to promote racial diversity. In addition to the record update, a Diversity & Inclusion Survey will be conducted in 2021, the results of which will guide the company’s efforts on various fronts”, said Petrobras in the statement.
