Petrobras encourages and supports more women in leadership and also racial diversity in its 2021-2025 Strategic Plan and Human Rights Guidelines

Wanting to encourage more women in leadership positions, Petrobras informed in a material fact yesterday (21/12), that it launched the Gender Equality Plan with a series of actions to promote Diversity, in line with the Human Rights and the company's 2021-2025 Strategic Plan.

Highlighting the Mentoring Program for Female Leadership in the plan presented by Petrobras, which is intended to support the development of female leadership and, consequently, expand the positive results brought about by a more diverse and inclusive.

According to the Petrobras report, the plan also brings initiatives such as the program to stimulate the increase in female representation in supervisory positions in operational areas; data monitoring and Diversity & Inclusion Research; creation of affinity groups; in addition to several training and awareness fronts, to be consolidated or implemented in 2021.

“Actions were defined based on an assessment of the company's context and, therefore, with special attention to operational areas, where women are less represented. Currently, women represent 17% of the company's workforce. Of the total number of leaders, in all hierarchical positions, women make up 15%”, said the state-owned company.

It is worth noting that one of the recent advances took place in the composition of Petrobras' top leadership. In the last two years, the number of executive managers (first level below directories) increased from 5 to 12, representing 30% of the total positions in this function. Among the directors, women occupy two of the eight seats, that is, 25% of the total. There is also a woman on Petrobras' Board of Directors. At Transpetro, the Board of Directors has a black woman.

Petrobras Female Leadership Mentoring Program

Petrobras employees who are chosen for the Mentoring Program for Female Leadership (a pilot project that has 15 vacancies, 11 of which are for women and leaders of operational areas), will participate in meetings with the mentors, in addition to workshops, webinars and meetings, with directors Andrea Almeida, from Finance and Investor Relations, and Anelise Lara, from Refining and Natural Gas, as mentors.

Part of Petrobras' plans are to expand internal diversity in terms of racial representation. “Currently, the company is making an effort to encourage employees to update the self-declaration of color and race in the company's registration. Based on more precise information about the internal context, actions will be developed to promote racial diversity. In addition to updating the register, a Diversity & Inclusion Survey will be carried out in 2021, the results of which will guide the company's efforts on several fronts," Petrobras said in the statement.
