The Subject Was Already in Shell’s Planning, Which Has Now Decided to Put Into Practice the Plan That Was on Paper Thinking About Electric Cars

Like its competitors, Shell also faced significant losses in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, wishing to recover the company’s loss – which was more than US$ 20 billion – the Anglo-Dutch company spoke about changes in its strategic plan, which will now include environmental initiatives.

“Our accelerated strategy will reduce carbon emissions and deliver value to our shareholders, customers, and society at large,” reported Ben van Beurden, CEO of Royal Dutch Shell.

Shell’s Goals for 2021

The oil company did not elaborate much on the new path it intends to take, but van Beurden stated that, in general terms, this will be a plan more focused on the growth of various cities, even where the company is not operational, aiming to make them increasingly sustainable, helping to free them from fossil fuel dependency.

“Whether our customers are drivers, households, or businesses, we will use our global scale and trusted brand to grow in markets where demand for cleaner products and services is stronger, delivering more predictable cash flows and generating higher returns.”, stated Ben van Beurden.

Ambitious Goal of the Oil Company

Shell undoubtedly aims to become the largest company in the world in the clean energy sector, aiming to achieve this title by 2030. Its plan is certainly ambitious, but possible, considering it is a competent company like this.
