Ranking Released By ANP Shows The States Where Consumers Pay The Most For Gasoline
Due to various factors, all states in Brazil are strongly affected by the consecutive increases in gasoline prices. According to the national gasoline price ranking released by the ANP (National Agency of Petroleum), Piauí is the state where consumers pay the most for a liter of gasoline.
The ranking released by the ANP showed that residents of Piauí pay significantly more than consumers in other states. Piauí is the only state where the average price for a liter of gasoline is above R$ 8. Today, the liter is traded in the state for R$ 8.13 on average.

With R$ 7.77 per liter, Rio de Janeiro is the second state where gas stations charge the most. In third place is the Federal District, where the liter is sold for R$ 7.70.

Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, gasoline prices have risen worldwide. In 2016, Brazil began applying the Import Parity Price (IPP). Until that point, the country controlled fuel prices as a way to protect consumers from inflation. However, this measure caused significant losses for Petrobras.
Natural Gas Prices Increased By 19%
The new prices for natural gas came into effect this Sunday, May 1. Petrobras announced a 19% increase in the price charged to distributors. This price will not change in the next quarter, when a new adjustment is expected based on oil prices and currency fluctuations.
