Renovigi Solar Energy Will Open New Factory in Pecém Complex, Ceará, for Photovoltaic Panels for Solar Power Generation
After signing a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Ceará on the morning of Friday (06/25), the Santa Catarina-based company Renovigi Solar Energy expects to begin operations at its new factory in the state by the end of this year. According to Gustavo Martins, president of Renovigi, the total investment is R$ 150 million, which includes the installation of the assembly line (R$ 12.5 million), as well as the acquisition of raw materials, working capital, equipment, distribution investments, among others. Details About the New Solar Energy Generator Factory in Ceará
Renovigi promises to invest R$ 12 million in the construction or leasing of two industrial warehouses – one to house the solar panel assembly factory and another for a Distribution Center for the products. The properties are being leased from the Company for the Development of the Industrial and Port Complex of Pecém (CIPP S/A), which manages the Pecém Industrial and Port Complex, including the seaport and the ZPE.
The investment for setting up its solar panel assembly factory and distribution center seems small, but Renovigi Solar Energy estimates it will mobilize R$ 250 million in working capital and that its annual revenue, starting in 2022, will reach R$ 2 billion. Renovigi will import the panels and all the necessary inputs for their installation, which is why the need for working capital is significant.

Choice of Ceará for the Installation of the New Factory
Gustavo Martins, president of Renovigi, says that the choice of Ceará was strategic for Renovigi, both because of the renewable incentive programs in the state and its infrastructure. The factory will be located within the Pecém Industrial and Port Complex, which will facilitate the arrival of raw materials from Asia by the ships that will dock at the port. In this first phase of installation, production, and material distribution, an investment of R$ 150 million is planned, Martins says.
The president of Renovigi also states that the option for Ceará was driven more by the strategic plan focused on renewable energies and logistical considerations. Gustavo says that the state of Ceará can receive materials through an efficient port, and Ceará’s central location favors distribution to clients in the North and Northeast.
Production Capacity of the New Solar Panel Generator Unit
The factory in Ceará aims to produce about 600 generation systems per month, which represents 7,200 systems per year. According to the company, the sale of the systems will mainly target the Northeast states, and to a lesser extent the North. The two regions currently represent 22% of the company’s sales and the expectation is that they will account for 30%. The unit in Pecém will be the company’s third in the country, and the other two factories are located in Louveira (SP) and Itajaí (SC).
The new industrial assembly unit aims to leverage potential business growth in the Northeast, where the company has 535 accredited partners, who are the company’s partners and integrators for direct sales to customers.
