The GasLub Project of Petrobras
The GasLub Hub will be another important asset for Petrobras in Rio de Janeiro. Petrobras is present in several fronts in the state. From the exploration of oil fields off the coast of Rio de Janeiro in the Santos and Campos Basins, to the Duque de Caxias Refinery (Reduc), the Regasification Terminal of Guanabara Bay (GNL), and power plants Termorio, Termomacaé, Baixada Fluminense, and Seropédica, in addition to terminals operated by its subsidiary Transpetro (Campos Elíseos, Aquaviário Angra, Ilha D’Água, Triunfo, and Imbetiba).
In the coming years, the company plans significant investments in activities in Rio de Janeiro. Only in the Campos Basin, in the northern part of Fluminense, US$13 billion is expected to be invested. Petrobras is sensitive to the demands of society and contributes to national development.
Generation of New Jobs in Rio de Janeiro
The Governor of Rio, Cláudio Castro, said that he intends to start bidding for works, such as roads, as soon as possible so that “next year it will be functioning and producing jobs in Itaboraí.” “The goal is to enable the economic recovery in the oil and gas sector in Rio. We need to maximize our natural wealth, generating jobs and income for the population,” explained Castro.
The Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, highlighted the creation of a new gas market, which will allow for price reductions. This will be possible with the arrival of new companies to the segment through the sale of Petrobras’ assets. “Rio, as one of the main players in this industry, can also be one of the main beneficiaries of its growth.”
