According to Petrobras’ report, since the beginning of 2020, all fuel for ships sold in Brazil and in more than 170 countries must have a sulfur content of 0.5% due to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL). Anticipating this process, the state-owned company has been marketing the product since last year.
In the first five months of this year, Replan was responsible for 12% of all Bunker produced by Petrobras.
“All the Bunker produced by Replan refinery in Paulínia is transported via pipelines to Barueri Terminal, where it is stored to be sent, also by pipelines, to the Port of Santos,” claims Petrobras.
June was also marked by the resumption of operations of a distillation unit (U-200A) and a catalytic cracking unit (U-220) to meet the increased market demand for derivatives.
With the return of these units, the refinery is back to having the capacity to process 69,000 m³ (million liters) of oil per day, the largest in Petrobras’ refining park.
About Petrobras Replan Refinery
Replan’s production accounts for approximately 20% of all oil refining in Brazil, processing almost all of the national oil, a large part of which comes from the Santos Basin (pre-salt).
The Paulínia Refinery began its operational activities on February 2, 1972, three months before its inauguration. About 20,000 cubic meters of oil per day (126,000 barrels) were processed at that time.
