Shearwater Plans to Start Research in the Tupi and Iracema Fields in Petrobras’ Santos Basin in the Third Quarter of This Year
Shearwater GeoServices, based in Norway, reported last Wednesday (02/17) that it has received a contract from Petrobras for seismic acquisition in deep waters (OBN) for the Tupi and Iracema projects in the Santos Basin. Shearwater stated that this will be the largest OBN seismic survey in the country in the Tupi field and is also a baseline survey for potential future 4D surveys.

Shearwater plans to start the surveys covering a total of 2,882 km² in the Tupi and Iracema fields in the third quarter of this year. It is expected to be completed in approximately nine months. To execute the contract, the company plans to use the SW Diamond and an additional vessel.
Previously known as the Tupi field, the Lula oil field is considered one of the largest ultra-deep oil and gas fields in the world. Located in water depths of 2,000m to 5,000m in the Santos Basin, the field is situated approximately 250 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro.
