Seeking to improve its production, Stellantis entered into a new partnership with TIM and Accenture to install 5G technology at the Jeep factory in Goiana. The company already plans to build a second project at the factory in November
Stellantis, owner of Fiat, Jeep, Peugeot and other brands, entered into a partnership with consultancy Accenture and telephone operator TIM to start the installation of a 5G connection project at the Jeep factory in Goiana (PE). It is an industrial environment management model that is composed of a private network, cloud computing and artificial intelligence.

The pilot project took three months to install, was designed by Stellantis and the other two companies, and is already integrated into Jeep's factory floor. TIM was selected as the telecommunications provider to provide the entire 5G network and infrastructure, installing the AS network core in the public cloud, constituting an integrated digital environment.
Accenture, on the other hand, received the function of integrating this network with video analysis of its assets AI Solutions for Processing and image automation capabilities to improve Jeep production quality and factory safety.

Understand how the use of new technologies will work in practice at the Stellantis factory
In practice, the system will read the tags on each of the vehicles and through the AI systems, it will be able to point out failures in production and even which items were implemented in a given vehicle.
After affixing the vehicle's labels to its rear, a camera captures images while the vehicle transits the factory's production line. With the use of architecture based on 5G offered by TIM, data is transmitted in real time to the Accenture tool operating in the cloud.
Accenture's AI software checks the acronym's compliance and reports the result in real time to the quality inspection operators so that the Jeep is released or not. Finally, performance indicators guide managers in relation to the quality of the assembly process. Therefore, there is greater control over all items that are installed in the car.
New project by TIM and Accenture will be installed in November
According to the president of Stellantis for Latin America, Antonio Filosa, this is a fundamental step to transform the unit in Goiana into the first factory in the integrated sector based on 5G technology, offered by TIM. It is an achievement that shows Stellantis' commitment to innovation, always focusing on quality for the customer.
According to Stellantis, the learnings systematized in this first phase will be used in a second, more complex project, which will have its installation started in November.
The theme chosen is the traffic of Automated Guided Vehicles. The technology will be responsible for controlling the movement of automatic carts, leaving aside the installation of magnetic or physical rails on the floor. This more complex project will use and test the fastest data traffic through the 5G network, taking advantage of its efficiency differentials, such as reliability, high speed and very low latency, in addition to a high data transfer rate.
