Volkswagen Plans to Launch a New Electric SUV, Named ID Ruggdzz. The Electric Car Will Feature a 110 kWh Battery, and Its Range and Performance May Impress.
Regarded as one of Volkswagen‘s most ambitious projects at the beginning of this year, the Volkswagen ID Ruggdzz Electric SUV, with off-road capability as planned by the brand, is becoming known worldwide. In a recent interview, Carsten Intra, CEO of VW Commercial Vehicles, commented on the prospects surrounding the project and revealed that, if approved, the model will be developed in partnership with Ford, much like the new generation of the Amarok.
Volkswagen Will Decide the Future of the ID Ruggdzz in the Next 12 Months
According to the executive, when questioned by Autocar, Volkswagen is analyzing the project alongside Ford, which is still on the agenda. The statement complements what was recently said by Waldemar Bauf, global product manager of the commercial division.
The expectation, according to Intra, is that in the next 12 months, Volkswagen will have another decision on this matter. According to reports, the electric car will adopt Ford Ranger’s T6 platform, shared with the Volkswagen Amarok in this new generation, and will be designed in the same vein as the ID Ruggdzz, a conceptual electric utility that was supposed to be launched in 2019 but was never presented to the public.

Honda performs miracles in fuel consumption with a hatch that marks 13.2 km/l in the city and 15 km/l on the highway, leaving Polo, HB20, 208, and Onix behind and becoming a reference among compact cars without resorting to turbo or hybrid systems.

With 122 hp, fuel consumption of up to 17.7 km/l, and a trunk capacity of 440 liters, this hybrid SUV impresses even though it costs up to R$ 47,000 more than the Yaris — meet the Toyota Corolla Cross.
The ID Ruggdzz would be based on the MEB platform and would hit the market in the early next decade, but Volkswagen seems to have abandoned the project. Thus, the plans for an electric SUV with off-road ambitions have migrated to Ford’s T6 platform, based on the new generation Amarok.
New VW Electric Car Will Feature a 110 kWh Battery
If approved, the robust ID Ruggdzz will have a battery with a capacity of 110 kWh and sufficient conditions to provide a range and towing capacity consistent with the proposal. The design will follow Amarok’s standard at the front, while the rear will draw inspiration from other SUVs in Volkswagen’s portfolio, such as Touareg, Tiguan, Atlas, and Taos.
Volkswagen may also develop another electric SUV focused on off-road, however, in this case, for the newly re-created Scout brand. It will be marketed in North America and should not cannibalize the cousin derived from Amarok, which will serve the needs of other markets.
Volkswagen Electric Kombi May Soon Hit the Market
Arriving in the European market as a major success, the Volkswagen Electric Kombi is expected to be well received in the Brazilian market after 2024. The model is named ID.Buzz, having been in pre-sale since May of last year, when it was introduced.
According to the automaker, by December, the new generation model has more than 26 orders. In addition, 10,000 of the total will arrive at the company’s stores soon. Thus, the model has exceeded all the automaker’s expectations.
The expectation is that the model’s debut will still occur this year, which was initially expected to happen last year. The electric Kombi features a 204 horsepower electric motor and a maximum torque of 31.6 mkgf.
The maximum speed of the model with rear-wheel drive is 145 km/h. In addition, the reimagined Kombi comes with 77 kWh batteries, capable of charging at stations of up to 170 kW. The van can recharge from 5% to 80% in just 30 minutes. When fully charged, the model can deliver a range of 425 km. According to Lars Krause, a member of the Board of Directors of VWCV for Sales and Marketing, the company is pleased with the launch of its first electric Kombi of the future.
