Electric Truck From American Company Anticipated Worldwide. Range May Be the Differentiator for Elon Musk’s Project Success

Tesla, Inc captured global attention as a company famous for its electric vehicles and work in clean energy. The California giant is led by Elon Musk, a figure known worldwide and one of the richest men on the planet today. In addition to electric vehicles, Tesla produces solar panels, storage, and solar bonds. The company’s focus at the moment is on the electric truck Tesla Semi, which is expected to be launched soon.

Tesla’s Electric Truck Was Announced in 2017

Elon Musk’s bet is to fully enter the truck market and compete with vehicles from companies that have been in the heavy vehicle market for decades. The Tesla Semi is a fully electric Class 8 truck. It is battery-powered and had its first prototype of the electric truck launched in 2017. At the time, the expectation was that it would be launched in 2019, then 2020, but so far nothing.

At the presentation, Tesla stated that the truck would have the capability to travel 800 miles (1280 KM) with a full load and 650 miles (1050 KM) with 80% of the battery charge. However, Elon Musk indicated last year that the truck should have a range of 600 miles, about 945 KM. However, it’s all speculation at this point.

The Tesla Semi will also feature Autopilot just like the other electric vehicles from the American company. The electric truck Tesla Semi was expected to charge 80% of its battery in 30 minutes, with a range of 400 miles (650 KM). See the image below of a prototype of the electric truck seen in 2019 in California.

Everything indicates that the Tesla Semi will have different electric trucks. The company’s base model would have a range of 300 miles (480 KM) and a cost of $150,000, while the top model with a range of 500 miles (800 KM) would start at $180,000. The companies seeking these trucks are those that require daily trips, generating a massive cost reduction by the end of the month.
